AMD drops it all, who will buy the new Fury?

So AMD unloaded all they got, some quick releases and others (Nano) for late summer, who will buy and when do you plan to get it?

Are you surprised/satisfied or laughing at AMD's new GPUs?

What do you expect Nvidia's answer will be?

I'm in for Day 1. I've had this money burning a whole in my pocket for a while.

EDIT: Why does Nvidia have to answer? They got Titan X to milk saps, and if Fury X is fighting with 980 Ti, they both win at that price point.

Not me, I've had my fill of 28nm GPUs and can play my backlog of old Steam games until the next node shrink.

That said I think it could be a decent upgrade for those who have HD 6xxx cards.

Well the two of them are fighting in a mud pitt, when one shine the other jumps on its back so Nvidia will surely do a little something, price drop, adding a game with the cards or announce a new feature, don't you think?

Right now AMD has all the spotlight..

I am brand agnostic, no favoritism here, just interested in the next move.

I gotta see how the Fury Pro fares at $550. It would cost me an additional $80 to switch to a case that would support another AIO rad, which is okay since my case is not really fully meeting my needs. But that makes the effective difference for me between Fury X and Fury to be ~$180 so I want to see what the reviews say before choosing between Fury, 980 Ti and Fury X.

I told myself a long time ago that I wouldn't ever buy a >$500 video card again. I'm still leery to buy a >$300 video card. That said I believe the Nano would be the only one I'd consider. Provided the heat/noise/power/performance is reasonable.

Even though the Fury X gives me a boner. I just can't see myself paying $650 for a video card.

If I could get a 4GB custom cooled nano, at 400, with +50% more performance than my 970 (OC included), I could be interested.

If Nvidia has to answer:

GTX 980 @ $400
GTX 980 Ti @ $550
GTX 980 Ultra @ $650 (Based on full GM200).

But, I don't see Nvidia having to respond. They got name brand and word of mouth. Fury is a new card that isn't even out yet. The only people even remotely interested are still but a fraction of buyers.

Where AMD needed to impress (R9 300 series, where MOST buyers are) completely felt unimpressive and a tad misleading during their presentation.

Nvidia has nothing to worry about.

So long as they overclock well and when all possible performance has been gotten out of them the Fury X is faster, I will get a pair. Haven't had any AMD cards in a while. The 980ti tops out around 1500 on the best samples, so I have an idea of where the Fury X needs to be with overclocking.

They said the TDP is 275W, but the cooler can handle 500W. That doesn't tell you much though as we need to see how much more the card can handle. No matter how much power you throw at a card, if the chip is tapped out it can't go any higher. One of my Titan X could not budge beyond 1400 even with 1.3V.

Need to see the reviews.

Nvidia would be at a bit of a spot if they drop prices right now because they just dropped prices and introduced the Titan. How upset would existing owner be if they dropped prices this soon. Nvidia should just ride it out or offer more free games.

Nah, not Nvidia. Them guys can sell people wrong specs and not even catch flak for it.

But I'm not saying they'd do this, I already said they don't have to do jack. This is "but if they really wanted to" type of rhetorical scenario.

If the performance is really there and I can sell my 970 well, possibly, if not next generation I'm getting a Fury successor.

I'm really interested to see the Radeon Fury. If this is something like a 10% cutdown Fury X for $550 it sounds pretty damn promising. And the Nano sounds really cool too. I don't care too much about power consumption when I'm building my own rig, but I recognize it's pretty critical for the longterm success of the company, so that's exciting to see them building something to compete with Maxwell on power efficiency.

I can stomach the price of Fury X if performance is acceptable. Need reviews to really make any final judgement on the purchase. Nano looks interesting for SFF systems.

I dont think anyone except a diehard AMD fan can make that decision until we see actual benchmarks. Personally, since it requires water cooling, I think Fury X will have to significantly beat 980Ti or at least overclock like hell. Otherwise, why mess around with water cooling for equal performance at the same price?

The card that really interests me is the nano. I am not really in the market for a monster 400 dollar plus card, but an efficient, compact mid/high range card at a good price sounds like a winner.

I agree, but only if they have similar 'potential'. If you have 10% less shaders plus the Pro appears to be lower-binned vs. the X, then the $100 difference in savings might not be worth-it if you plan to OC it to max.

Can't wait to see a couple different reviews and what the X and Pro can get on the OC front. See if any patterns emerge...

On the other hand why have a top-end card without a top-end cooling solution? Why not add the onerous task of screwing a radiator to your case in return for a massive benefit in terms of thermals and noise? Personally I'm comparing the Fury X as being $100 cheaper than a 980Ti because that's how much they get for the EVGA Hybrid and that's well worth having.

What exactly is the "mess around" you're referring to? An AIO cooler requires screwing to your case, the same way any 120mm fan screws to your case.

Nvidia have nothing to answer, we still do not know anything aside from the price.

People need to wipe the foam from their mouths and calm down.

Clearly this is a misunderstanding, of course Nvidia won't answer tomorrow, I am talking a month or two... By fall?

The card is not launched yet, what did you expect?

It's just nice to know what the reactions are now that we have much more information. Indeed no reviews or launch (altought thursday there will be).
