Shelling out $5million to try to get people to use that app is definitely aggressive.

I don't think there is a GeForce equivalent OP.

I started using this because it ninja-installed itself with the latest AMD drivers at that time and I'm quite surprised to admit that I like it far more than I thought I would. Reminds me of good old Xfire days...only now I get points towards new games or actual gaming hardware!
Not sure how financially viable this can be for AMD, because they literally shouldn't be able to earn anything with this - there aren't even advertisements in the program or on the web page.

Anyway - I do suggest you try it with an open mind.

Its okay I guess, but considering I already own all those games, I'm good.

If I remember correctly, Thief and Titanfall are on that list as well, along with video cards. I definitely don't mind running the program in background for a chance to (eventually) get something like that.

it gives me a reason to either fire it back up or reinstall it; free stuff is free stuff.......plus making talking to friends on all those different lists will be easier

Anyway, i don't need none of them...

I had almost 8,000 reward points and today I have less than 3,000, haven't made any purchases and prices of items went up. Did they do some sort of bait n switch? Thief was 12,000 and now 25,000 and sweepstakes were 10 now 100.

5 million dollars to jumpstart this thing is probably much cheaper than what it costs Nvidia to maintain Geforce Experience. If it takes off for AMD, it could in theory end up much more comprehensive than what Nvidia could manage alone.

The last time I tried this app, however, it didn't have a profile for The Witcher 2 (mind you, my configuration was really new at the time). So, I'd say this 5 million dollars is well-spent.

I'm not really interested though.

I've used this app a bit and it was incredibly awful. I don't need a popup telling me I've leveled up because I played a game.

If AMD wants to do something worthwhile software wise, have their installer uninstall the old driver, delete those files, and reinstall the new one. Nvidia has the option for a clean install, why doesn't AMD?

How in the world could you have possibly come up with this conclusion...?

What do you mean? There are 2600 games on Steam. 182 games on Origin. If even only a fraction of those game require profiles, then it is easier and simpler to pay up five million dollars to get the ball rolling.

Or do you think it isn't time consuming, to test every single CPU+GPU configuration, for several generations' worth of cards and CPUs, for every game, for every resolution? It's just not feasible.

But let's attack the problem from another direction. Answer this question: would AMD spend these 5 million dollars if doing it the Geforce Experience way would have been cheaper?

I have geforce experience running in one system and Amd gaming evolved raptr with another, and I have to admit Geforce Experience is much more posh and accurate when it comes to optimising games. With raptr the optimisation has been terrible. I do the optimisation for the points then manually go and change the settings in game.

Nevertheless the reward point system is the reason I updated my app today. The idea and concept behind giving gamers the chance to win something daily, weekly and monthly is great. Hoping the app becomes more accurate than it is right now.

Good move by AMD to get people using their ecosystem and great for people who are willing to help out and possibly get some gear out of it.

I would prefer AMD invest this money for raptr diminute the polution and improve accuracy of its software...

I had that ninja install itself when I updated drivers or something. What a POS with all sorts of popups that pull you out of game. WTF, AMD. Your stupid spyware app doesn't ever get to pull focus from what I'm doing.

Hate this kind of stuff. This ninja installed on me too and it just comes across as a trick/manipulation.

Yes it's more social platform than utility.
I tried it once again, but gave up... again

Raptr recognized most of my games, but when I hit PLAY NOW it tries to reinstall them
Streaming works only in "supported" games, but only sometimes. You can not export movies, just stream to twitchTV
It wants me to install 14.1 with broken OpenCL; Sooo clunky... Someone mentioned Xfire. Xfire + GameSpy Arcade

Raptr social spy/spamware. Yay.

The first time it autoinstalled it I immediately looked for a way to get rid of it.

Here is the best part, I uninstalled the driver itself to get rid of it, and it didn't work. You have to uninstall the Raptr garbage itself, not just the driver.

Raptr sounds a lot like RealPlayer... just saying.

I'm not sure I like the direction these two companies are taking. As it is I had to gut that GeForce Experience crap and get it off my system, it was like malware. 100 disk usage and messing with network usage. I'm not the only one reading through the forums.

I know why these companies are trying to do this, but it just seems to mess things up.

It sure got my RIFT settings about as wrong as it could.

I selected "optimal" at first and it decided supersampling at Max was the way to go. Basically managing 60fps on MSAA before made me realise that wasn't going to work. Barely held 30fps.

The 2nd option - "balanced" had the crazy idea of maintaining supersampling while switching to the low quality renderer. 120 fps, not what I'd call pretty though.

I didn't bother with "performance" after that.

I'm not really sure how this is supposed to work though - isn't it supposed to look at what others are using and automatically fix settings based on that? If so it might take a while to settle.
