This is probly a dumb question, but why is everyone using that seemingly old version of cinebench?

that is a monster(teeehee) overclock! this system throttles down to ~2GHz in cinebench multithreaded, so you have a ~700mhz cpu advantage that gets you only a ~0.35 point advantage...interesting.

Thanks for that interesting perspective.

If it was actualy at 2.7GHz the CB score would be something like 3.25, and 2.4 for 2GHz, Cinebench is an instance where Llano does very well, for exemple a Kabini does 2 at 2GHz.

Edit : Notebookcheck stated that their drivers werent updated when they did their Kaveris reviews; and that score improved noriceably once it was done.

A few suggestions:

Make sure Win10 9926 is installed, if that is in fact what you are using. Many applications (notably stuff like 3dmark and unigine, but NOT Cinebench) ran faster in it. For me, on my Kaveri, Win10 is mostly faster than Win7. Not sure about Win8.1 but at this point, I don't care to test it.

Get amdmsrtweaker, and do this:

(note vcore = whatever is the observed vcore in cpu-z or similar when it turbos up to 3.3ghz)
Code:
amdmsrtweaker p0=33.0@vcore p1=33.0@vcore . . . p7=33.0@vcore

That will prohibit it from throttling and stick all cores @ max turbo. Your most probable throttle is p5, though p4 can come in if the Windows ACPI driver thinks that too much power is being pushed through the socket, so be sure to tweak those at least.

You may overheat the machine @ 3.3 since it is a laptop (and obviously the power consumption numbers and battery life will go to pot). Go ahead and try something lower if it becomes a problem. Heck just stick to 2.1 ghz on applications that are actually causing throttling behavior. If you want to get fancy, you can specify 3.3 for p0 and put it on a sliding downward scale (with lower vcores), bottoming out with p4 and p5 @ 2.1 ghz. You can leave p6 and p7 mostly untouched, they shouldn't rear their ugly heads unless your thermal margin hits 80C.

The NB settings in amdmsrtweaker do nothing, to the best of my knowledge, so do not worry about them.

This is the 17" i7-4510u version of that Envy with 16gb and ssd upgrade, and the 840M turned off other than the last one. I think I ran these on the A8 I had but not sure where I stuck the results.

I almost bought that laptop from best buy in November but the display model had a horrible resolution. It may have just been (burn in) on the store model. It was really the only gaming laptop they had worth buying.

So you got something close to the i3 SB non turbo performance, 4 years later. Thats 4 years of sales in between that people at best would have to sidegrade for. Assuming they didnt buy an i5.
in mobile efficiency >> performance. I have a FX-7500 too and while the CPU scores are a bit dissapointed in dual graphics it shines and delivers great numbers far greater than the Beema based R7 M260 notebook I compare it to.

On a side note the Beema's score is comparable though I'm quite sure this guy's single threaded score is off mine does better. As for cost nothing Intel has here in Europe can beat that laptop for that price considering both the gpu and the cpu since it was 470 euro FHD, FX-7500, R7 M255.

The 20w TDP cap is holding the processor in the tests. That's why i think that Intel's 2C+HT solutions is a better choice for this TDP range.

I dont see how 500+ mS sunspider can feel as fast as a sandy bridge machine. I can barely stand to use a machine that scores 200 these days. I'm so spoiled by my 107.

that's in google chrome, js benchmarks are pretty much single threaded yet in chrome its lights up all cores and clocks em at 2.1GHz, look that the screenshots in the op.

I can't see the difference between my i5 2300 and my A8 6410 @1GHz in normal tasks only when I start doing taxing things the difference becomes somewhat apparent. (Civ V huge difference between the 2 obviously)

IE is the king for sunspider, you should use it.

I can notice the difference between a 3GHz sandy bridge and 2GHz core 2 or 2.4GHz k8 at basic things like loading some heavy websites

Browsing heavy webpages I can easily feel the difference between power saver (1.2 ghz) and performance (3.2 ghz) on my notebook.

So can I. I have a 3.0ghz sandy bridge and a 2.2ghz core 2 duo, and there is a clearly perceptible difference. Not to mention it is night and day different compared to my 1.3ghz atom tablet, which admittedly is ram starved.

Core (2) duo is pretty trash by now tbh. However what do you notice the difference in I ask because I browsed for a bit on my sis' laptop this night which has a dual core centrino. It's not fast but for browsing it feels about the same I btw only use firefox so does she.

What is this thing heavy websites? Watching youtube is heavy browsing? Because that appears faster on the Beema for obvious reasons than the centrino but it appears to be the same as my desktop i5 2300.

Anyway numbers speak more so that words and experiences usually but in this case I don't see it even the older machines do fine for browsing. Heck I have hundreds of pages open on my laptop without it bogging down. Firefox 32 bit however bogs down once the memory exceeds 3GB and crashses happens on both my desktop and laptop so maybe waterfox is what I need.

A z3735F with 2GB of DDR3 is very responsive. Chrome does hit over 80% usage even when it clocks up to 1.5Ghz.

Centrino is just a mobile Wi-Fi branding, beginning with Carmel (Pentium M) to Chief River platforms (i series). Centrino was most heavily branded with Pentium Ms and Core 2 Duo.

What is power drain when running CB multi threaded.?.

The reviews at Notebookcheck point to Kaveri generaly not exhausting its TDP rating,
hence some weird CB scores that have 12% variations depending of the laptop, the model below with a A10 7350B consume a peak 32.5W before getting to 26.4W, indeed the battery life under full load point to 25W total comsumption of the laptop, wich induce no more than 14-15W real TDP for a 19W rated APU.
