Hello guys
I have one more question. AMD fx8350
have 8cores, Intel i5-4670k have 4cores.
I want to play games. I know if I chose
Intel i5-4670k then I have to upgrade it
in 3-4 years. But if I chose AMD fx8350
then how many years it can play games.?
can it play games approx 5-8years.? it
have 8cores.
I don't care if difference is about 5-10fps.
I just want to play games on playable fps.
I will use gtx 650ti boost or gtx 760.
guys help me plzz .
thank you in advance.

It's impossible to know, but I would think it will still run games 5 years from now. CPU improvement has started to peter out, we just don't see as big a change from year to year anymore. Couple this with how long even the lowly pentium 4 chips were relevant (I've even seen people run skyrim on them without too much issue). The extra 4 cores should help it over the i5-4670k in the long run, but given how much stronger each of the cores of the i5 is I wouldn't be surprised if it hangs on even longer than the 8350.
Your gtx 760 will need replacing before the cpu either way.

I believe there are very few fortune tellers among us.8350 is already obsolete period.Another question are you posting from a phone? the formatting is weird.

It will do better in next-gen games than it did for games late this gen. Properly utilising the 6 weak cores in both the upcoming consoles will require a higher degree of parallelisation, and that should benefit AMDs chips to a point, which are competitive in highly threaded scenarios but often bottlenecked when single-threaded performance comes into play.

You can already see this happening in games designed for the PS4:

but it will surprise me. are you sure i5-4670k play games longer time than 8350..? I don't want to play games on ultra settings. I just want to play games on playable fps on any settings. settings don't matter.

i5 is always the best choice, the only question is budget.

Even if games go 8 threads the i5 will still be as fast, and when it's 4 or less it will be much, much better.

No one can tell you exactly how long you can use these CPUs. But in general the performance of the most games depends on GPU not on CPU. So it was told you very clear - you'll need to change your GPU sooner than the CPU - no matter wich one you would choose. Even my old 2500k will stand longer than my HD 7950.

I'm not an AMD FX supporter by any stretch of the imagination, but how often do you game in 720p on the lowest detail settings if you had just splashed out on a new gaming build in the last couple of years? My build wasn't anywhere near top of the line in 2010 but I'm happy playing the games I play with 1080p res, occasionally with a bit of tweaking. I don't often play the latest games though (the toughest being Arkham City IIRC).

Unless one has just bought the absolute best hardware available, one has to accept that there will always be faster hardware available than one's own. The OP's question was (I'm fairly sure), for how long might an FX8350 rig be a practical gaming platform for (which is a really difficult question to answer because it is based on that person's expectations and the sort of games they're likely to play), not "for how long will it look like I've got the biggest willy on the market".

A couple of pages on in that review shows 1080p benchmarks:
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...ntel-haswell-i7-4770k-i5-4670k-review-18.html

Having said all of this, in most scenarios I would recommend an Intel rig.

I played all new games like COD MW 2,3, Assassins creed revolution, brotherhood, 3, Prototype 2, on nvidia geforce GT 8400gs 512mb on my pc.
my friend is still playing all these games on his setup with 8400gs.

May be so, but on very low settings. And these games, especially AC, are not so demanding games. And you and your friend play them with your old CPUs, right?

Gaming in 720p with low details is so rad, probably the trend for the future .
In all seriousness now, to answer the question from OP: nobody knows. But it's fair to say it will be able to run decently any new game in next 3-4 years since consoles will have much slower x86 cores and we will have console ports on our PCs .

Consoles also have much lower API overhead (draw calls).

PC games have dwarfed console games for 7 years now, even ports are better than what they came from, and PC only titles can range from threaded to not very thread (MMOs or ARPGs like Grim Dawn). Also I thought I heard games would be developed on the PC and ported to the consoles... Not true? PC has much lower stats, money is in making games capable of performing on lower end PCs. So it's unreasonable to assume cores will drive PC performance anytime soon when most people are still using dual cores.

If you play a lot of console ports FX probably will work ok, if you play a lot of games, the i5 is already better and will remain so in the future.

for gaming the 8350 is simply not as good as the Intel options for the same money (or a little less).

for how long you can play games with it? no idea, it really depends on your expectations, for some current games you could say the 8350 is already not good enough... but for most games it's OK at the moment, and you can still play games with some old Core 2 Duo, if you are not expecting the smoothest experience.

on very low settings. he have & I had Athlon duel core cpu, Asus M4N68 something like this mobo. But games play smoothly.

I don't like pointing out this benchmark for a few reasons.

Hardly anyone games at 720p. And if they do, these benchmarks show that both CPU's will have the same user experience.

Yes it shows the difference in IPC, but for 1080p Gaming, the difference in most games is nowhere near as big.

Also, with gaming starting to utilize more Cores (and with Release of PS4/Xbox One), These benches will most likely be closer, as GPU will become the bottleneck more often that not.

Sounds like another of those threads in which the op has already made up his mind. I would predict either an FX or i5 will be sufficient for the foreseeable future, given the slow rate of CPU improvements.

It makes no sense to buy an FX8350 in terms of gaming. Its much slower, much more wasteful and on an outdated platform without being priced for it.

Benchmarks are relevant. Specially when you look ahead. But you can even look at SC2 for example. And then think twice about if you really want a FX CPU. Also benchmarks tends to be prescripted ones. Meaning its relatively light CPU wise. 15 FPS in SC" Heart of the Swarm isnt exactly a good gaming experience.

PS3 and Xbox360 already supports as many, or more threads as the Xbox One and PS4 will have for gaming. And thats 6.

This doesn't translate to 6 threads being used on PC though. With the new consoles coming on x86, it will become the norm.

I'm not defending AMD, but the 8320 at $145 + tax (on Amazon) is a steal. Mine runs at 4.7GHz 24/7, and its more than capable of gaming.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8350-core-i7-3770k-gaming-bottleneck,3407-5.html

This shows BF3 (which can use 8 threads) with a Crossfire system, at 1080p, a much more realistic resolution. As you can see, GPU Bottleneck takes place before CPU Bottleneck, which I think will become the norm for majority of FPS/Action/Sandbox games. This is the point I'm trying to make.

The other games tested here use the following:

F1 2012 can use 4 cores/threads
Skryim uses 2 cores

Tons of tests on the net showing Skyrim not running much different on similar clocks on a i3 vs a i7.

Anyways, Just saying a $150 8320 overclocked is a good value to consider.

720p Gaming again (Nobody games here - its sole purpose is to show the IPC difference, which I agree is there, but at 1080p, with games focusing on more thread/core use coming up, I believe we will see much more GPU bottlenecks before CPU bottlenecks)

Real world experience vs Benchmarks again.

And yes, SC2 would be a ton better at 30 FPS with 15 minimums on a 4770k

OP - If its in your budget, get a i5 or i7. If going budget, get a FX-6300 or FX-8320

I would just get a 4670. K if you overclock. Likewise B85/H87 board if you dont overclock. Z87 if you do.
