Something big is about to happen, people of /r/PCMasterRace: a first-ever hybrid AMA+hardware giveaway, hosted by AMD. Where and when, you ask? Right here, next Wednesday (the 29th) beginning at 11AM Eastern Time.
AMD, the creator of many popular CPUs, GPUs, and open standards for PC gamers, will make reddit history next week. You know who they are, and you know what they do. What you don't always know, are the fascinating specifics of their latest chips and software. Next week, you'll have a chance to ask AMD about many of these things. AMD will be hosting a Radeon Technologies Group AMA and giveaway right here in /r/PCMasterRace. What are they giving away, you ask? FOURTEEN reference 8GB RX 480s. Yes, as-in two piles of 7. There will be many entries, but that's also many cards. Fourteen of you lucky people will have a Polaris-powered RX 480 in your hands (PC) very soon. I can taste the delicious framerates and resolutions already.
During this hybrid AMA and giveaway, you'll be able to ask /u/AMD_Robert (Robert Hallock) questions. Unfortunately, Zen and Vega are off the table for this one, but pretty much everything else related to AMD's GPU division is fair game. If you don't know who /u/AMD_Robert is, he's AMD's head of global technical marketing, and you've probably seen him somewhere in /r/PCMasterRace or /r/AMD at some point if you visit them regularly. That should clear up almost everything, let's move on to the specifics.
The AMA
Simply commenting (or asking a question) will count as an entry, so don't worry about asking AND entering. Topics for the AMA include Polaris, as well as anything else centric to the Radeon Technologies Group (Vulkan, GPUOpen, AMDGPU, Crimson, Polaris, etc). As I've mentioned, Zen is not a part of RTG, and Vega isn't ready for more informational reveals quite yet, so those are both off the table for now.
The AMA will not take place in this thread, so make sure you prepare your questions (if any) elsewhere.
The giveaway
Quite simply, you'll be entering to win an 8GB RX 480. The limitation on this, obviously, is one per person. There's also geographical limitations, you can only win if you're in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, or New Zealand - but this is also an AMA, so nobody's going to be excluded from having fun.
The prize
The RX 480 you're entering to win is a reference model. It does have one major enhancement, however: it's the 8GB model as opposed to the 4GB model. It's even possible that one of you could be the first non-press consumer in the entire world to get your hands on an RX 480 if the stars align just right.
The RX 480 is expected to be a very popular card, as it's affordable, powerful, VR-capable, and built on a low-power 14nm node. This card will open you up to the world of Vulkan (the evolution of AMD's Mantle API), FreeSync (AMD's free answer to G-Sync), GPUOpen (AMD's answer to NVidia's GameWorks) and many other increasingly popular free standards. Needless to say, there's going to be a lot of people going for these since the mainstream PC gaming market is absolutely gigantic these days, and you have front row seats to the giveaway.
So don't cry, there's still hope if they sell out right away. This doesn't have to be you. credit /u/13378
Press
There's a good chance press will be crawling this thread. If journalists have any specific questions, you can always contact Robert Hallock or PM me on Reddit directly if you can't write it in the comments.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the winners be chosen? On June 30th. AMD wants to get them mailed out as quickly as possible, since we've had companies give away stuff on PCMR in the past and it took a very long time to get to their recipients.

The event will take place Wednesday, June 29th at 1:30pm ET / 10:30am PT at http://www.pcper.com/live.
As a price for hosting AMD in the offices, we demanded a sacrifice: in the form of hardware to giveaway to our viewers! We'll have at least two Radeon RX 480s to giveaway during the live stream but I am pushing to get a bump in that count; we'll see if I am persuasive enough. All you have to do to win on the 29th is watch the live stream!
