I agree, but they are only including it on a few of their new cards. If they want it to gain traction, it needs to be on all their cards.

Probably will be eventually, I don't see people buying a top-end card just for TrueAudio. This is something I see as important 3 or 4 years from now.

It's kind of irritating that AMD, a company almost sunk countless times, is doing more for gaming compared to Intel. Come on Intel, do something exciting please.

positional audio is not about creating the best sound stage, bass, highs, clarity.

its about changing the signature to mimic a sound coming from behind you with 2 speakers, or a sound coming from above with 5.1 setup.

Positional audio is exactly what it says...you can determine the position of where the sound originates. Your brain does this automatically. There are effects that try to make it seem more believable though.

Well, that's good for laptops and smaller. But it is not very exciting, just continuing a decade-long trend of improving integrated graphics. It is safe, it is conservative, it is desperately needed, but it is not exciting or ground-breaking.

I don't think they have it currently but the TrueAudio guy mentioned a plug-in for the consoles and PC.

Those scene transition pauses in Star Citizen look annoying. I hope you can transition instantly between a ship interior and the ship chair. Same with the buggy car and the hanger.

Explain why please. Why is this any different than what we have right now? I mean you can simulate 5.1 on a headset, it's done right now. You can add effects via software right now. Audio off a game is still lossy so the clarity is still compromised to some extent. To me this all seems like marketing speak for something we have done in other ways for a long time with dedicated soundcards and some HT receivers.

Explain why please. Why is this any different than what we have right now? I mean you can simulate 5.1 on a headset, it's done right now. You can add effects via software right now. Audio off a game is still lossy so the clarity is still compromised to some extent.

Yes but in what way does it differ from what we can do now? aside from just saying "true audio sounds awesome" what features does it offer that make it better? Surely they mentioned something no?

Also this would presumably need to be run over HDMI correct? How does this help the user who has a set of headphones? Did they say anything about a breakout box that comes with?
