If they really want to exceed the size/power constraints, why not have a fiber-optic high-bandwidth cable, plug into a small PCI-E slot, and run that cable externally to a big box that sits on top of your PC, that has the GPU and a nice power-supply in it. Plug it into the AC too.

yeah, that sounds good. honestly, gpu these days are so huge it's a feat putting them into your computer. I had so much trouble jamming it and I had a normal sized case. got bruised all over my hand trying to maneuver the card.

I'd love to have a GPU enclosure with power supply and cooling outside of my CPU.

How long will this card be? The 6950 is already a massive 11.3 inches and doesn't fit in a lot of mid tower cases.

Needs more wood.

Thread-crapping is not acceptable.

Calling out a mod?

It's funny how you don't say this in the original thread, but instead, hide it in an unrelated thread.

Are you a politician? This is how our pork-barrel budgets get passed.

That was my thought too. Too bad if it's true because it will be dumping the heat from one of the gpus back into the case.

This time, AMD is toying with a revolutionary new cooler design that makes use of a cylindrical blower (like ones used in air-curtains, on a much smaller scale) to draw air from the rear portion of the cooler, and circulate through the complex vapor-chamber enhanced heatsink inside. In other words, the card lacks a fan intake hole where it's typically located, but the rear portion serves that purpose.

^-^
thats why you cant spot the fan where it normally is located.... because their useing a cylindrial blower.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what that is, but isn't that what they used for FX5800? Maybe post a picture.

In this thread there are similar "infractions", Einstein. I've been 15 years on forums without any reprimand.

You assume the volunteer moderating staff has time to read every single post in every single thread. I didn't have time to go through this thread, but I've only noticed one reported post - the one I issued an infraction for. If Idontcare has time later, he'll be able to go through the other posts & issue any other infractions/warnings as necessary. -Admin DrPizza

shouldn't new video card products be leaner, cooler and more efficient as opposed to becoming big, bad, beasts?

Sorry to break it to you, but people who are in the market for $700 video cards dont care about power efficiency. This is a niche that is priced outside of budget for *insert made up high percentage here* of the market.

Nice, new pics.

That card is monstrous. Looks like it is going to be the biggest card ever out of AMD or nv not to mention the fastest
