Got a HD 5670 in my rig but the displayport keeps giving me power issues on my 3 monitor setup. Sometimes when I turn on my 3rd monitor on the hdmi port, the system freezes and I have to restart the PC. Been thinking of getting a 6770 Flex series card but was wondering if waiting for the next series is a good idea or not. Not a gamer FYI. Thanks.

Having 3 monitors doesn't make it Eyefinity. Eyefinity is when the GPU extends the game across all three screens.

If it was me , i'd upgrade now. There's no telling when 7xxx will come out, and 79xx will not be out until next year.

eyefinity is using two or more monitors as a single display. It has nothing to do with gaming.

Oh, yeah you're right it has nothing to do with gaming. I stand corrected. It's still 3 or more displays though, not 2 or more.

These products support up to 6 display pipelines per GPU and the total number of display pipelines depends on the GPU as implemented by the manufacturer.1 Also, at least 3 simultaneous, active display outputs, including one DisplayPort™ connector are required to support AMD Eyefinity technology.

Marketing 1 : Me 0 Any 3 monitor setup gets thought of as eyefinity by me now, even if ATI has no part in it

I could be wrong, but I think he would need two nvidia cards to do what he can with one amd card.

There is an NVIDIA card that can run tripple monitor setups now, only one afaik though and there are cheaper ATI solutions- he might also need 3 identical monitors if its an NVIDIA card/cards.

A 6770 is a bigger 5670. It alone isn't going to fix your issue. Can we assume you have done a clean driver install?

Why would you pay $300~ bones for a triple display Nvidia card if you aren't going to be gaming? I'd get the cheapest 6xxx AMD card I could find.

If you're using a DisplayPort cable from Monoprice, they used to have a design flaw that could give some issues (it was missing one of the grounding pins). I don't know if they ever fixed it, but after I replaced my Monoprice cable I never had an issue with my DisplayPort monitor again.

Yeah, the driver is clean. The message I get is that there is a power issue with DP so I unplug it and when I reconnect it, everything works. Also noticed that when I go full screen video on one monitor, say Youtube, the 2nd monitor sometimes gets artifacts. My 3rd monitor is my 1080p TV and sometimes when I turn it on, the whole system freezes and I have to reboot. Really don't know what's going on.

I'm using an adapter from Sapphire which converts DP to VGA.
