Hi, i own a hd 7790 card, 4gb ram and q6600 3.4ghz oc using at 1920x1080 .
The price will get lower in time, and another 7790 will be possible to buy.
What graphic card from hd 7xxx serie would be compatible for Crossfire, and what results are in games, comparable to other higher graphic cards.

I think only 7790 and R7 260X are compatible if I understand Crossfire correctly (has to be the same physical chip, but number of active cores can be different)

The 7790 has 896 shaders, so two of them should be in the range of a 7950. Problem is, you will be limited to 1gb of vram. That will hold you back some for sure, but at 1080p I dont know how much.

It is not usually a good idea to crossfire two relatively low end cards, but to get one more powerful one. It might be worth a try, or alternatively, when you want to upgrade, you could sell the card you have and purchase a single more powerful card.

Multi low-end cards are never a good idea, not enough gained in grunt and the typical low vram just doesn't make it worth it over the long term.

It's also amazing how long the Q series has lasted in staying power.

Definitely not worth it because 1GB of VRAM will hold you back. It probably already does in certain games. Adding a second card would be nearly worthless.

Now, if you could sell or trade the 7790 for a 260x with 2GB then you could crossfire two of them... But two 260X's @2GB will cost you around $240-250 which is 270-270X range. A single 270 or 270X would be a much better choice because you won't have to worry about crossfire scaling. Even if the game fully scales, a 270X is still going to be very close to the performance of two 260X's.
