Why would you think anyone would pay $5-10k for a no warranty ES of a card that will cost less than 1K most likely?

Someone who has money, collects video cards as some guys do and or wants to have one before anyone else and if it is a real ES would wants it and has money. If I remember correctly someone paid I believe it was around 5k for Voodoo (5) 5500 on ebay. That being said I just can't see or believe the biddding went that high something not right.

This is a black market card. The sale of this card isn't tied into the release of Malta. That could still be months away.

But still a pointless purchase until drivers sorted no?...sorry, just confused why people would buy this when official card not release with the drivers?

lol that's a vintage card from the company that has more fans than Nvidia...

I can see why you thought they were comparable, but they're not

No I was just showing you that ES (engineering sample) cards get big bucks from collectors I know they are not the same card. I was replying to you when you asked why did I think it might go for 5-10K before the bidding went up thta far. I even had a Voodoo 5 5500 when they came out.

Someday when you grow up and move out of your moms basement (and get a job other then a supporter of team green), you too can afford to buy your own AMD card being you seem to have a closet fetish for them.

Never mind the fact that I regularly buy NV cards when they are priced right.

btw, calling out blind fanbois and closet fans for trying to market blindly != fanboi of competitor. Keep that in your marketing handbook.

If AMD can make the drivers behave then this will be an epic card. Since 20nm will be long time coming it will be a great stop gap card to rule them all. Including Titan.

Why would anybody get this? I read that AMD allows for engineering samples to be sold but it carries no warranty whatsoever. For over $1300 on the last bid that I saw, why would anybody buy this without a warranty?

I guess some things are just worth it to some people.
Collectors foam at the mouth over old baseball cards, pay huge amounts for old teapots, spoons and letters written by dead people.
Each to his own I suppose...weird but not that uncommon.

It is a myth that crossfire is pointless because of the frame delivery issues.

Just ask any of the people using crossfire to push big resolutions or higher image quality with Vsync enabled.

It's not my cup of tea because I can't stand vsync, but some people get the benefit of far greater image quality than they could get with a single card. I'm the type of gamer that reduces image quality in the name of higher FPS.

I ran 2x7970CF at 2560x1440 for over a month before throwing up my hands in despair at the stutter...went back to a single 7970 and now just turn the settings down

can you disable one gpu in a single card with dual gpu like these?

My power color Hd7990 allows you to under volt a gpu and under clock a gpu net to zero power use if you do it.

While that may seem weird , it is not you can super clock the second gpu and max the fans you get a very good 7970 that way and it will not overheat.

I own this card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...31483&Tpk=powercolor hd7990&IsVirtualParent=1

If I want to game I set one gpu to .85 volts and drop all the clocks down as far as they go.

I use the second gpu with locked voltage and max the core. You get a very good 7970 preformance this way. At cool temps since the massive cooler is working on the hotter gpu.
