I know that userbenchmark is not a reliable benchmark and I would probably get laughed out of the room, but userbenchmark indicates

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7820X-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-2700X/3928vsm475904

Like you mentioned, it's hard to use userbench as a serious benchmark, but the relevant take aways are that the single 2700x benchmark matches the average of the 7820x benchmarks.

And the single 2700x benchmark is about 13% faster than the average of the 1800x benchmarks with a single core improvement of about 16%.

Does anyone knows if the Ryzen 7 2700X comes with the Wraith Prism or not? (I can't tell from the box.)

According to the Amazon preorder link below or above depending on how you look at it the description says that it does include the wraith prism cooler. Didn't pay attention to the poster of the links so I'm guessing you already saw the info anyways.

It's like Poe's law, there is no real way to tell if your were being sarcastic or literal.

It looked like you were being literal to me.

Not sure what cooler it comes with, it it does at all.

Box looks cool though. Are there going to be any new Ryzen 7s coming out rather than just the Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 (I can't tell from the box.)

I would have thought the image of the cooler on the box may have been a giveaway of his sarcasm

Anyway, the 2700x looks good to me.I'm not sure what people were expecting but it looks like a reasonable update. We will see a bigger push next year.

I know we are mostly nerds here, but don't expect everyone to recognize the name of every CPU cooler on sight. That is minutia most people probably haven't delved into.

I read the writing the box looking for the specific cooler name to be identified, and thought he was being literal.

It looks like it's a fire sale @ Italian resalers (what incompetence on their part) Another guy got his hands on a R2600.

His memory timings are terrible though. Someone should link him Stilt's B-die timings

Oh boy is it that time of the year already! Can't wait to get one to play with.. quite interesting if some people already had the chance to purchase theirs prior to official release.

So sounds like ASRock is replacing X370 Fatality Gaming Professional with X470 Taichi Ultimate. Wonder if they're dropping Fatality branding?

No, apparently the Fatal1ty Gaming Professional will still be released: https://videocardz.net/mobo/asrock-x470-falal1ty-professional-gaming/
But no more infos have been leaked so far. Also the ITX board is still Fatal1ty branded: https://videocardz.net/mobo/asrock-x470-falal1ty-gaming-itx-ac/

I wish they would release a Fatal1ty Gaming Professonal ITX with 10GbE though.

But X470 Fatality Professional Gaming makes no sense with X470 Taichi Ultimate. In X370 lineup, the X370 Fatality Professional Gaming was basically X370 Taichi + second LAN port + onboard power/reset buttons. This is what X470 Taichi Ultimate is - it's X470 Taichi + second LAN port and power/reset buttons. I don't think there is any room above X470 Taichi Ultimate for another motherboard.

Didn't the Professional have a 5Gbe or 10 Gbe port. I guess to use the system as a cheap home server solution. Is that what the second port on the Taichi is for. I will say a Taichi Ultimate kind of defeats the point of the Taichi brand doesn't. Wasn't it supposed to be the brand for all the cool features but less fluff to price it below competitors high end boards? Maybe the Taichi did so well on the X370 the wanted to expand the name, but it will detract away from the stated goal of the brand.

Personally I like having second lan port on my motherboards for virtual machines. Serious homelab users running vmware vsphere will buy server grade hardware with dedicated 4 port intel nic. They wouldn't buy consumer board anyway. But for power users like me running vmware workstation or hyper-v it's useful to have second nic dedicated to guest OS'es. One nic for host OS and one nic for guest OS, it's the proper way.

Ultimately it's just names. I don't think second nic defeats the purpose of Taichi, it's just another Taichi trim (Ultimate) that has features that some need.

Not questioning the extra Nic. Back in the day I actively used it for my VM's to lower traffic through the one my main system uses and for off net work VM's I now use the wireless. My point with the Taichi Ultimate much like the users point about the gaming Professional. Was that they already had a kitchen sink motherboard. It's branding sucked and they probably should have created a more ROG like name for that series. But the Taichi brand, not just for the X370, but as a whole has been usually been the perfect middle ground, All the stuff gamers and system builders will like but little they wouldn't ever really used, and was always priced much lower than other brands kitchen sink boards, in fact closer to the more budgeted (and almost unbranded offerings).

Take a look at the X370 Taichi, the Asus ROG Crosshair, The MSI Titanium, and the Gigabyte Aurous. Nearly as well specced and certainly in the case of the Titanium better specced. It was $180 when the Asus and MSI were $300+ and the Gigabyte still missing some nice features but added lighting, was like $40-$50 more at the time. Those have all come down in pricing and the Taichi has mostly stayed the same but that probably has more to do with those not selling nearly as well. I guess the best comparison would be Asus's Strix line. The no frills highend gaming, instead of the Crosshair. The Taichi Ultimate is basically a Crosshair competitor but using the Taichi name which is usually a Strix competitor.

I hate to constantly hate using car analogies but they are the easiest to fit. The Taichi line is like VW or Kia. Both can have really nice cars, but the Ultimate comes off as their version of the Phantom or K900, much more expensive and probably as good as competitors Luxury cars but by brands not known for competing in the area. But that sudden jump may seem like a stretch for a brand associated with cost effectiveness. Maybe this is Asrock's attempt to expanding the Taichi line that has been mostly a success into the future ROG line with sub brands and the Ultimate being one of them. But I wonder if its a bit soon for that.

1. "Racing" just doesnt feel right.
2. Same as 300 series.
3. Poor look. Make it cool
4. Quality VRM
I dont really care for Biostar either but its interesting to see other motherboards then just the norm. In all honesty I am waiting for either the Gigabyte Gaming 7,Asrock Fatality,Asrock Taichi, or Asus Tuff. Depending on which has the most I/O ports that I am needing will be the winner and my new purchase.

Well, I just gave my 1700x to my son as a work computer (does drafting work), so now I am free to get a 2700x if I want ! Of course on a Tachi !
I was going to only get the r7 2700 non "X" but the "X" variant is only $29.00 buck more as long as newegg doesn't get all price gougey.. So I may just follow in your foot steps there Mark..
