amd - ocing..

i have a :

kt7a w/ 1.2ghz 200fsb

i'v oc'd it to 11x 117 = 1287, but it reads 1300 but its ok =)

what i need help is ... i get an error sign (missing or currpt file: <windows 2000 root>/system32/ntoslcrnl.exe)

when ever i go pass 1300 mark...

my cooling is the hsf that came w/ the amd

and a big o' fan blowing in my case...

i tried most of the stuff.. diffrent clocks fsb.. multi...

even the voltage...

any suggustions for mee?

What's your CPU's temperature. Maybe you need better cooling.

when I was ocing my T-bird, I found that once I got to a certain point I needed to up the core voltage and CPU drive strength to get stability.

Give that a shot.

Otherwise, maybe it just wasn't meant to go further.

Howdy,
You need SIGNIFICANTLY greater cooling. You never want to do more than a mild (2%-3%) overclock with just stock cooling.

Take a look at the SocketA Cooler Roundup article, decide which heatsink and fan combination is for you. Some cool more, but generally create more noise. Also, HIGHLY recommend using Arctic Silver II thermal paste.

Until you replace your stock heatsink and fan, I HIGHLY recommend returning your CPU back to it's rated CPU speed. Keeping it overclocked without improving the cooling will likely result in a dead CPU within a few months at the level your attempting to reach.

Yes, that error you receive is due to the overclock not reaching. With better cooling, you may reach that level successfully. You may need to up the voltage as well to reach stability, but that will also increase CPU and MB temperature, so do NOT do that until you upgrade your cooling solution.
