Too bad you got it 11 days after you ordered Exman. Even though they made good for you, 11 days is too freakin' long and exactly why I won't order anything from Monarch. If they advertise in stock and 2-3 days shipping, you should have the item in your hands 3-4 days IMO. They are simply baiting people with their advertising and it bites the big one....

Oh crap I forgot about monarch.. oh yeah mucker is correct.. i won't order from them anymore either when time is a factor. They almost made my son miss his x-mas present by showing "in warehouse" for over two weeks on a video card I ordered there. Luckily I checked status - cancelled and ZZF dilivered it to my door next day! That's not the only time either they've been slow. Definity not newegg/mwave or ZZF quaility there.

The last time I ordered a combo from Monarch, took probably 10 days to show up. Not gonna hold my breath, that's for sure. I'm pretty laid back - not gonna cry if it takes 6 business days instead of 3. Monarch actually impressed me because I ordered that $79 Sempron on clearance Thursday and had it in my hands Monday morning with the $1.99 budget shipping (was FedEx). Bonus!

Man, people are just too damn impatient.

It's not that - I remember back in the "please alllow 4-6 weeks for delivery" days - it's what your competition offers, making us spoiled because of course faster is better, and monarch is slower which is worser.

I had a 146 0546 UPMW that superpi 32m'd at 2.95ghz on an SI-120 with my Ultra-D.
Hopefully you guys see clocks close to mine with the 144 varieties.

Well, Monarch advertising says the combo ships 2-3 days. I'd give them a day to process the order. That means in 4 days, it should be in your hands. This just ain't happening. It has nothing to do with impatience but more to do with shady advertising IMO...

Exactly. Seeing as nobody else has $130 Opterons in stock (supposedly) and even the DFI Ultra-D motherboard is $10 cheaper than Newegg... I'll wait an extra few days for the lower price. Monarch was actually a bit higher on shipping than Newegg (going by general mobo and CPU shipping costs) but overall still cheaper.

I've had friends who have been so impatient that they would spring for overnight shipping plus the extra $3.99 rush order from Newegg... and they lived an average 1 day away from La Puente even on ground shipping. Fools!

Personally, I hate Monarch...they screwed up one of my orders, and the rest I've ordered there have just been really slow to ship out. Around 3-4 days. But, like everyone else has been saying, if you're patient, this is lava hot.

I was pleasantly pleased to find out that Monarch shipped my stuff yesterday. I ordered Monday night, so they shipped within 24 hours after they got the order, unlike last time. Come to think of it, last time I ordered a combo was on Black Friday so maybe they were swamped.

So far the two orders I've received were fine. Let's see how they do on this one.

Monarch has some good deals going these days at the Hardforums. They had a one day sale yesterday for various eVGA video cards. We're talking $150 (+$4.99 shipping) for a 6800GS and $240 for a 7800GT. Yes, they had rebates, but only $20 and not some huge a$$ one like some other hot deals so even the before rebate price was good. Also, these cards have a mild factory overclock. Alas, deal is over - a good thing too otherwise I may have purchased one and I do not need another video card.

I've never tried to OC my systems (currently an XP 2500+ Barton/ATI 9700 Pro). Is this still a good deal for upgrading my system or is it best reserved for the OC'ers?

Well if you need a motherboard anyways (which i guess you do) it is the cheapest socket 939 chip available. So id say it would be a good deal for you to upgrade your system.

I totally lucked out.. Monarch posted a $30 off coupon for an Opteron 165 on the Hard forums, only the coupon worked on everything. Most people placed orders for random items around $40, but I bought an opteron 144 and the Asrock board, and my order went through! $180 for an opteron 144 and an Asrock board!

I've got a Barton 2500 and an ATI 9800xt which I use to game. I am thinking of the ASrock board and the Opteron 144 as well. I don't know how well it will game. I overclocked my 2500 but it got too hot for my video card to handle (had a 9600np) so I went back to normal speeds. The chip overclocked fine, went to 3200+ no problem. I have a different video card with better cooling on it now. I am kind of curious if anyone else out there has anything to say about this combo deal for gaming. I don't see how it could be worse that what I have, and would be a cheap upgrade.

I ordered dfi ultra-d and 144 opteron combo w/ coupon. Came out to $230 including shipping! I also got a free heatsink, although it took a week to ship out. The reciept online also says I paid $260, but my cc statement online says $230.

Well they just deliverd my opty and asrock and this is sweet. Didn't really take that long to get here and its up and running. I don't know what kind of adjustments are in the bios yet but I will find out shortly. It set up very easily, as a matter of fact i'm typing to you on it right now.

I didn't know about a coupon.

I also ordered this past Monday and it didn't ship until Wednesday.

However, today I'm having a blast with my Sempron 2600+ and Biostar Tforce6100, reaching 315MHz HTT stable and 330MHz POST. I think I'm CPU limited because it needs a vcore boost to even hit 300MHz HTT POST on any board. This Opteron 144 and DFI Ultra-D better clock pretty darn close to 3GHz or I'll be disappointed.

FedEx showed up with my stuff the ½ hour out of the whole day that I wasn't here, and left a note saying delivery on Monday. GAH! I've got class on Monday and will be gone for about 3 hours - GUARANTEED FedEx will show up when I'm gone - they always seem to do that no matter what time of day since they can show up anywhere from mid-morning to late afternoon. Will probably be Tuesday before I get my hands on my Opteron and Ultra-D. :disgust:
