hi everyone

well, here is the deal

a month ago i build a new PC with this parts

Motherboard: M4N68T-M V2
Proccessor: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition
RAM: 2x Samsung DDR3 1333mhz 2GB
Video Card: PNY GeForce GTX 560 Enthusianst Edition

the MO (in BIOS setup) have enough settings to O.C. the machine, but i dont know which way to choose

i already unlock the CPU to Phenom II X4 B55 and runs really smoth

but when i get to CPU (FSB vs Frequency), RAM timing, PCI-E, voltages, etc.
i dont know the values to select.

my question would be...can i really O.C. this machine to feel any change or it doesnt worth it?

thanks to all, first post here Sorry for my English...

How are you checking to see if the unlock is stable right now ?
Are you using OCCT and/or prime95 for checking how stable this is?

What speed you running at now, what voltage ?

ok, the speed of my cpu is 3.2ghz, for the test used the 3dmark 11 and till now, i only get one blue screen for drivers (im using windows 8 pro) and the voltages really dont know, all the default BIOS settings were on [Auto], but i dont fell safe about move that without info.

the biggest charge that i use to put on the CPU and GPU maybe is Skyrim in very high, Starcraft II ultra and Battlefield 2 high-ultra settings, and even with that im seeing some fps drops to 20 on areas with multiple textures or really detail scenes.

about the unlock, the mobo bios unlock 2 cores more to 4 total at 3.2ghz, i confirmed with the windows task manager and the CPU-Z software

I'm not sure I completely understand what's going on. Why don't you just keep increasing the multiplier? If I recall, you can set the multipliers separately for each core on SOME MOTHERBOARDS.

EDIT: You may want to overclock you Northbridge slightly as well. That seems to have made some impact with games.

I had the 550 unlocked and overlocked to 3.6 (all cores) and it was a small but noticeable improvement when gaming at 1080p.

yey

ok, till now i reach 215 in the CPU Frequency and 17 of Multiplier

Results: CPU Speed at 3.65Ghz

but i discover something, 3 of 10 time that i restart my PC said "Bios Setup Fail" and ask me to set default or go to the setup

the other 7 times it start and i have no problem with any game or software

i tried to reach 3.8ghz and i succeded, but, just like the first try to 3.6, this time only 2 of 8 times it start, ones the OS is running, got no problem.

so settle for 214 bus speed, or give it more voltage? monitor your temps and run some stability programs as well, prime95 etc

Why do you need to increase your bus speed anyway? Are you trying to OC your memory too? The way I see it you really only need to do 3 things.

1. Find your highest multiplier at stock FSB.
2. Set your ram at its rated setting (unless you want to OC)
3. Increase your NB slightly (if you really feel like it).

New Bios Config

86waterpumper, im running the prime95 right now with this settings and my CPU works on 59°C.

SlowSpyder, i use to play at 1440x900 and im working with afterburner to OC the Video to, from 810mhz to 890mhz at 1012mv.

Stoneburner, i dont even move the memory settings, all are selected on Auto.

im going to keep testing this to make sure is stable :3

Going along with what some other posters have said: Don't bother too much with modifying the bus speed unless you are trying to overclock your RAM at the same time (which is what you achieve by overclocking from the bus). Instead, try to get the highest you can get by just using the multiplier. This way you will only be overclocking one component at a time (Just CPU). This lets you determine what part is failing first without guessing. Similarly, google a guide for overclocking the Northbridge, you will see some gains from overclocking that as well.

Please watch many of the phenom 2 overclocking videos on youtube before you overclock or post any further.

Why do you need to increase your bus speed anyway?

On all the boards I've owned, CnC has been limited to an 18x (Gigabyte) or 18.5x (Asus had half steps) multi. Meaning that if you want your CPU to downclock automatically, you are limited to 3.6 or 3.7GHz.

I've never had any real trouble using an 18x multi, then boosting the FSB and adjusting the RAM divider to hit 3.8+ while having my CPU downclock at idle.

ok, now im kind of confussed, the multiplier allow me to get a high CPU Speed, then...should i keep at 200 the FSB(bus speed on the last image)?

about the ram, the speed, voltage and timing still selected on [Auto] its moving by him self :3

fortunately for me, the las setup its working prety well, no crashes, no problems at the start, but... im going to try changing my RAM, because skyrim with the high def. Texture package keeps frezzing when i turn arround and... on steam forums players said: "to use the high def. texture, you need more than 4 gb of ram" :3
