So here's the story for me today on this.
Call 1 to Fry's busy signal
Call 2, get a guy who asks where I want to be transferred, when I tell him, he asks what I want and insists he'll look up the stock. Says I need to give him the part number after I give him the item name, so I go look up the ad and give it to him. After a wait he comes back and says '0 in stock'. I ask about the other stores, also zero. - and says 'and it's a discontonued product'.
I tell him I understand 0 in stock, but it's absurd to say Fry's no longer carries AMD's top CPU. He says hold and after a while on hold I hear a click, he humg up on me.
I call back and ask for a manager. He says no but I can have a person in charge. Person 2 answers, I askf if he's the person in charge, he says hold on and apparently transfers me again. Person 3, I ask same question, he says one of them. So I tell him the whole story - he says hold on he's going to transfer me to a manager.
So I tell the maanger the story, he says he'll get me someone good to talk to. He transfers me to someone who does some research and says that the previous people looked up the combo, which is 'discontnuted' because the parts are out of stock, the parts are not discontinued.
Then - whether he forgot to mute the call or not I'm not sure, but he tells the manager not only are they out of stock, but they had zero when the store opened. Great.
I ask about a raincheck, he asks the manager, and appears to get a no, but then does put the call on hold, and comes back saying they will do one since it was out of stock when the store opened - not as a courtesy over the headaches - btu I'll need to drive to Fry's today to get the raincheck, and then again when it's in stock.
