Ashes appears heavily compute limited more than any particular vendor bias.

Intentionally biased games is a pretty dumb theory in general, who wants to make their game perform worse on half the market just 'cause?

You can but the experience is inferior to a monitor because 2160x1200 is still too low res for something that's RIGHT up against your face. Screen real estate is .... How do you even answer that...It's VR it's everywhere around you. The only limiting factor is resolution.

VR being used for most non gaming / porn applications will probably hit its stride with 4k / eye.

I've played with my Vive for six hours straight before it got uncomfortable. The issue is the headsets' weight starts to be felt on your cheeks after a few hours, but not on your neck /head. It's remarkably good for first generation ergonomics.
Awesome dude, exactly what I needed to hear. Cheers! Will keep my eye on them. (no pun)

That's part of the problem. It's not 50/50, it's more like 75/25, that's why Gameworks works.

The Polaris hype train is about to arrive or derail...

Raja starts up the Vega train!

Great. Now we will have a Vega thread that will be filled with rumors for many months.
I am sure the mods are rejoicing at the amount of work that will be required trying to quell posts that are just flame bait!

Back to the 480 though, has anyone been able to determine who is making the blower this time around? It doesn't look like a cooler master design which is AMD's go to supplier, so, kinda looks like Delta, but I think that would be too pricey for AMD.

Yeah Vega will be a whole new level of theory crafting. Because we will have Polaris benchmarks and no doubt those will be dissected for all its worth to speculate about Vega.

There's so much misinformation and outright FUD about gameworks that it's really hard to get an idea of the impact. 99% of the nonsense appears to be about optional features that don't perform that well on either brand and can just be turned off (see: hairworks) or obviously unfinished games that also happen to use gameworks (see: arkham knight).

Fud, about gimpworks/ TWIIMTBP? Over-tesselated concrete blocks in Crysis 2 and underground sea, batman's cape and so on and on. I think it is less than honest to say that it is mostly fud.

________

Damn, now with Vega already being talked about, i wonder if i should go back to eating ramen for a few more months

Ok so the crysis 2 concrete barrier was hilariously wasteful - let's get that out of the way, agree completely. What does that have to do with gameworks? Was this an unrelated dumb decision/mistake or the result of something in particular from gameworks? If so, what?

It was a TWIMTBP title. Similar to the 64x tessellation hairworks with polys smaller than pixels. Nvidia taking advantage of their tessellation power dominance to hamper the opposing vendor without really adding anything positive to their own product.

Hairworks tesselation is obviously gameworks yes - but you could just turn it off no?

What I couldn't find with crysis 2 was anything about whether there was any more than "it's a TWIMPBP title so it must be intentional sabotage". Not impossible sure, but more likely to just a screwup with ultra settings?

The idea should be that the game runs particularly well on certain hardware, rather than running acceptably on one and tanking on the other. Ashes doesn't tank if you have an NV card, in fact it works very well. It simply runs best on AMD. Star Wars Battlefront is another example. Great performance on both sides, with the win going to AMD. People who own cards from the sponsor get a bit extra, but the other side isn't left out.

I'm not sure how about even that, but it's not completely objectionable.

Testing is done on my new 6700k @ 4.4ghz and OC GTX 980 Ti 1500mhz. In short, GTX 980 Ti OC is totally at different level and it can be 2X of 480 on certain games like ATOS, which is nearly 2X of it and even if 480 is OC still it will never beat a most crappy GTX 980 Ti in the market.

GTX 980 Ti value >>>>>>>>>>>>>480 8gb value.

How much did you pay for that 980ti?

I also mentioned cape of batman, which was overtesselated. IIRC there was something about the Metro games too. It's not just one or two games, but every Nvidia game tanked AMD cards' performance. It just kept happening one game after the other. The reason why i went as far back as TWIIMTBP games is to merely point that it is nothing new, and that saying there's fud about Gimpworks is plainly less than honest. Gimpworks is worse, in how it also affects Nvidia customers a fair bit too. Especially how Kepler cards lost out to Maxwell entry level cards.

When was the last time you spilled so much hate for a $199 GPU?

Why do you even care, you have an OC 980Ti.. it's obviously not for people with high-end GPUs.

Heck, how does the $449 1070 or $699 1080 compare to your OC 980Ti? Heck you got it for less than that in price.

I am not. I am stating fact ,where people thought that a $200 GPU from AMD can over take gtx 980 Ti. In reality, it cannot. People should care and think before they give their assumption about AMD rather then felling sorry or angry and blaming Nvidia for AMD downfall.

Why do mods allow this kind of trash in this thread?

sames as mods allow comparing a 480 OC to GTX 980 Ti.

I allowed the comparison as it appears to be backed up, and is opinion. This is approaching a mod callout. Watch it.
