Keep in mind @ 4K max settings. At that res it's still pretty taxing. Of course without seeing the FPS, it's pointless, but it's certainly looks pretty smooth.

People trying to get him to display core/mem clocks with riva also.

I hope he can show fps because I'm holding off on continuing Witcher 3 until I change my card.

No, its not maxed and yes it has hairworks on.
Actually he chose an odd combination of settings if you ask me.

Anyway, be aware that if it is actually a RX 480, he already stated that the tests are being done without the "official RX 480 drivers" (he's using older drivers), so who knows how close any of it is to real world RX 480 performance anyway.

Just think of it as entertainment while waiting for the 29th.

XFX model has a backplate, probably why they are asking $10 more.

The only thing the card is missing is a "turbo" button on the side of the GPU

I'm using a mixed settings on my card too with this game. Will have to watch it again when I'm not at work.

I have been reading about GCN and found this a in a great AT article :

After a trip through the CUs, graphics work then hits the pixel pipelines, which are home to the ROPs. As it’s customary to have a number of ROPs, there will be a scalable number of pixel pipelines in GCN; we expect this will be closely coupled with the number of memory controllers to maintain the tight ROP/L2/Memory integration that’s so critical for high ROP performance.

Maybe it will give some clue.

MSAA x8 and all advanced settings are maxed? I'm shocked he's even getting around 30 fps.

Though he claims this is without the review driver.

Assuming that is correct. I remember people said the 970 had 32 ROPs. and look how that turned out.

Guys, I had some free time this morning so I went ahead and did a comparison video. While our specs are not the same, I wanted to see the difference.

Overclocked GTX 970 1522/8000 vs. his RX 480 @ 1266/8000 ? in GTA V.

The settings are as close as I could get them. Since my card is limited to
4GB/3.5GB :\ I couldn't max out the Extended distance scaling. I'm not sure how much difference it makes?

I think it's fairly clear that while we've got a ballpark estimate from the leaks and various synthetic benches, we're basically not going to know anything until reviews are out.

If it's true that they only finalised and sent out the review drivers in the last couple of days then pretty much everything we've had so far can easily be discarded.

I'm sticking with the original prediction - stock around 390 / 390X.

GCN ROPs are decoupled. 7970 have 32 ROPs with 384bit bus. Limitation to number is only by AMD choice.
