Even [H] gave it a positive review! I don't understand this thread...
thats because with [H] the 480 consumes 60W less than their 970 sample, where in TPU it consumes 16W more than a 980..

Regression is simple. 5.8 TFlops, performing around a 390 that has 5.2 TFlops.
odd result compared to [H] which is not exactly AMD friendly
So for $398(USD) you can get two 480s and get 98% the performance of a 1080? Sounds like a win.
Perf/$ is good, the card will sell well. But their claims were different, the card should have been more efficient as well.
Same douche that said it could only clock @850mhz...right sthu man.I believe AMD should just stick to designing APUs for now, 1070 is way faster and consumes less power.Extremely disappointing debut for polaris, it's only saving grace is the price.
PS:
Kyle was right after all
This thread should be a lesson to AMD. Don't lead with your midrange card.
Launching Vega, even if a power hog, would garner a more positive reception if it temporarily dethroned the 1080.

The performance & price is fine, it's the power draw and noise that worries me.
So much lies and BS to fuel the hype.
Yup...the more I go through all the benchmarks the more it's clear the real selling point on this card is cross fire. I mean...only needing two 6 pin power plugs and $398 to crossfire and basically achieve 1080 performance is incredible.
Shit card. I can't believe I sold my 7970 for this.
It was only in this thread a 480x was ever 110w. I topped it for 130w and it uses like 20% more. This thread should be a lesson to AMD. Don't lead with your midrange card.

I think I'm more upset at the fact that once again, AMD has chosen to put the crappiest cooler on its GPU. Why are you doing this to yourself, AMD? I don't get it. Noise and Hit is one of the most important metric. Yet, they still did this? Did they not learn anything? Man, I am totally blindsided by the abysmal high power draw.
Definitely GloFlo.
And the second half of this "failure" is good all forum hype. Even the AMD press info was damning, but nope the hype train just kept speeding up.
EDIT:
Woof, how quickly they turn on you. Considering Silver has been more than optimistic for the products, this is rather odd to read.
