I'm going to give my current card to my little brother once I can pick up a decent 480 8gb. He's using some crap video card that Dell put in his alienware.

nVidia just lowered the prices for new gtx980ti, 980 and 970 so that used cards can't be sold properly. 980ti is available on newegg for 460$. Pretty much an effect of the 480...

The price drops on 980Ti have little to do with the 480. This is the same as 780Ti dropping from $649-699 to $350-400 new when 970/980 launched. NV is just clearing stock on their Maxwell cards. Soon we will see 1060/Ti. You don't remember that? Also, used market prices may vary depending on the country. Here in Canada used 980Ti still sell for almost the same as new lowered price 980Ti cards do in the US.

:thumbsup:Just posted my 2 Sapphire Tri-X R9 290s for sale in the For Sale forum.

Awesome deal! Your cards look brand new. . Those will sell in no time.

Do you think there will be big differences between AMD reference RX480 and RX480 AIB cards?

I read that the stock cooler of 480 is much better than previous cards, so we paid 20$~50$ more for nothing.

AMD makes amazing reference boards/PCBs, and always have sufficient VRM/MoSFETs on reference cards. I've been running distributed computing and mining 24/7 over the last 8 years and never had an AMD card fail on me. The biggest downsides to reference cards are the loud blower, usually higher temperatures and sometimes cool whine. The biggest advantage is an AMD stamped reference PCB always has voltage control via MSI Afterburner/Sapphire Trixx, etc. For AIB cards, MSI has a 3 year warranty, more than almost all other AMD AIBs that have 2. Also, for AIB cards, if you want to keep the card for 4-5 years, try to get one with dual/double ball bearing fans. Sapphire is starting to make such fans on newer cards.

Already sold mine! I got ~$225 USD equivalent for it which makes me a happy camper.

You lucky dog.

I just sold one of my 290s locally for $160 which isnt bad. I got the cards for 249 each with multiple games 20 months ago. So 89 bucks to use the 290 for 20 months plus Civilization Beyond Earth.

I was thinking about selling my other 290 as well while the selling is good but I work from home too much to be without a GPU for weeks and I am unsure how long I may need to hold out before a nice AIB version of the 480 is out there. So I think I will hold onto it for a backup card.

Honestly, I did some tweeking of GTA5 and I did not really have to turn *that* many settings down to play at 1440p with a single 290 (w/ Freesync.) If I can grab a 480 on the cheap that is ~20% faster I may be good for another 20 months.

I believe someone from AMD did confirm that Polaris 10's memory controller supports GDDR5X. It makes sense that a highly OC'd version could benefit from that.

1600 MHz would be awesome, if true. That could rival stock GTX 1070.

I don't know if it was posted here yet but someone on reddit searched the part number and it shows other stores with the product but the clockspeed and memory are normal. I believe the speeds that one store posted were placeholders.

Final price for reference Radeon RX 480 8GB in China is 1999 yuan (~304 USD), custom versions going up. Radeon RX 480 4GB and Radeon RX 470 coming later?

MyDrivers @ Translate said:
It should be noted that the public version of the RX only 1999 yuan price of 480 8GB, then the non-public version will be what price?

...2500 yuan, breaking the 3000 yuan is not a problem.

...In addition, @ red team also revealed that Asus RX 480 Although there is no sale, but will be on sale at No. 29, RX 480 4GB version on sale later time than the 8GB version a month or so.

Most importantly, the team broke the news @ red, RX 470 will have to wait some time before the market, but will be determined in the third quarter.

Well that's China pricing for you. Even here in Taiwan, I still see GTX980s in 16000NTD range. I think around 500 USD.

Do you guys think that the following psu : Cooler Master GM750 Bronze + will be able to handle an rx 480 in CF?

Why not? seems to me you could get away with a dinky 450-520 PSUs with 2x 480s...but I don't really know anything about this stuff.

I have the corsair 750tx and it's been fine. Some of my sata power cables are broke though and my wiring is a damn mess. Get a modular or semi modular psu. I think I'll get one soon as the wires in this one are a freaking mess. Good thing the sata power cable to my main drive hasn't broken yet. Such flimsy plastic connectors.

Chinese prices include VAT which is 17% if memory serves me well. $200 X 1.17 X 6.5 is 1.521 RMB and that is the USA price into local currency with VAT. That is for the announced price for the 4GB version. If the 8GB version is $230 then the price is about 1,750 in local terms.

Don't put your salt shaker away just yet, but the 8GB 480 is apparently listed at £210 wholesale including VAT in the UK. Even with markup that's quite reasonable if it proves to be correct.

Should be fine. If the RX 480 has 1x6-pin connector, then it will have a power limit of 150W even in the most intense applications (e.g. Furmark). That means the two cards combined can draw an absolute maximum of 300W. In most normal gaming applications it should be considerably less. Even at the maximum draw, that leaves 450W for the rest of the system, which is about twice what is needed even for an AMD FX Centurion or an overclocked Intel Extreme Edition CPU.

As a general rule, most system builders wildly overestimate just how much PSU capacity they need. This is a relic of the days when the PSU was an afterthought (often thrown in with the case) and sometimes came from a crappy vendor that simply lied about the rating. Today, if you stick to a reputable manufacturer, you can calculate what you actually need, throw in 10%-30% for safety margin, and you should be fine.

Funny that sweepr reported the obscure Chinese market price but yet didn't feel the need to post the must more relevant British price on the card that's currently on of the top posts on the AMD subreddits forum. That guy loves to post negative news related to AMD, he hides behind the "just posting the news" smokescreen.

470 King of the 1080p
480 King of the 1440p
Coming king Vega for 4k

Its a Home run for amd this year a true slam dunk
Its more like
470 satisfactory 1080p performance
480 solid 1080p performance
None of these cards are meant for 1440p. 1440p medium probably but not Ultra.
1080p 60fps is the goal here and that too not at max settings. Even Gtx 1080 cannot do 1080p@60 at max settings in a handful of games.

The link doesn't work.

Before removed from listing, these were the prices in some UK/world stores:

£210.99 ex VAT, £253.18 inc VAT

£194.15 - £232.98 inc. VAT

£235.18 (inc. VAT)

Here's a few more obscure market prices for you:

- Malaysia:

RM1,249 = ~U$305

- India

Product Code: RX 480
Availability: In Stock
Rs.30,439 ($453.54)

Ps: I know your motivation behind the personal attacks.
