ehh, it is just the usual. the very same posters in every amd thread in the vcg section

You can easily say the same amd fans do much of the same things in nv threads in the vcg section. Neither side is better than the other.

are we reading the same forum?

Nope.

The paid nVidia shillers and FUD-ers are in a seemingly endless quest to muck up, disinform and otherwise derail EVERY AMD thread out there. Any time spent on the various PC/tech forums will confirm this very reality.

Many of them will also throw out this "the pro-AMD posters do it, too!!!" when any amount of time spent on the various forums clearly shows that very few (if any) folks troll almost all of the nvidia threads doing the same thing in favor of AMD.

Its called fake equivalency. Say one guy caught a murder charge. Another guy got caught stealing food. Saying they are both criminals is a bit of a false equivalency if you are engaging in a honest conversation.

One company has been caught paying schill posters to hawk their products and the other company hasn't. nVidia and nvidia ONLY has been outed as engaging in this practice with no proof of the program being shut down. There are some seriously dedicated posters that throw shade into every single bit of good news relating to AMD, its like clockwork. If this forum was allowed ANY form of self regulation we would be able to call them out but due to the fact that this community is hamstrung with rules of inaction against even proven troll posters, I then must rest my case

^^ Absolutely correct, swilli89.

It's not limited to forum posters, though, as I'm sure you know. Many MODs as well as forum/website owners/founders also engage in obvious pro-nvidia tactics.

Just look at the recent actions by Brent/Kyle @ [H]ardocp in their epic butthurt, left out of all the tech-reindeer games anti AMD/Polaris post several weeks back. The "Polaris is HOT, under-performing, no answer for 1080, etc" have been almost verbatim talking points of this (pro-nvidia/anti-AMD) crew on the various forums ever since.

Its absolutely blows my mind the levels that some people take this stuff to. At the end of the day these are just adapters that allow us to play video games, nothing more, nothing less. You would think we would find more commonality amongst ourselves in the fact that we all play video games, but for whatever reason there is no common enthusiasm represented in most people's post.

1080 pushed performance higher then ever before. Cool. 480 going to offer amazing performance for the price. Also Cool.

Ever since AMD announced Mantle it seems that anyone that does not agree with everything AMD and/or AMD patners says, its auto dubbed a "Nvidia fanboy", and its really getting old now.

It is very silly in may directions. The mods did quite helpfully put up distinct sections, but people seem rather bent on ignoring those
(It would not be a particular loss if they scrapped the 'combined' section.).

They are definitely Nvidia shills. People who don't care about AMD don't spend their days and nights stalking rx480 threads. And using pointless arguments like perf/mm2.

I've bought both Nvidia and AMD GPUs over the years, in fact my current GPU is a 780 from Nvidia I've paid $500 of my own money for. Anyone who doesn't see it is either not paying attention or is biased themselves.

In fact it's this sort of poison in the hardware community I am seeing from Nvidia that is making me never buy one of their products again on a general principle.

Sorry, but posting that little Jonny does it too, doesn't fix or excuse the constant thread crapping. I have certain people on ignore and I still see more posts by them being quoted than I see from the posters who have something real to say.

Here we go, say it's anyone that doesn't agree with everything AMD. Well, it's not. Thankfully there are plenty of people with an nVidia preference who don't get involved in the constant destruction of any AMD thread. There are only a handful who do it. Why they are allowed is the biggest issue.

And it has nothing to do with Mantle. lol

I think there was no combined section for a few days. I suppose there wasn't enough discussion if inane arguments weren't allowed.

The same people just go into the AMD section. They ride the edge of the rules, bait people, report them, get threads locked, no difference really.

OK im tired of guessing and the hype train, when the NDA ends?
Since they release the 29th probably at the end of this week. I really want to see some benchmarks and reviews. Hoping that a 8gb 480 will be a big enough upgrade for me.

Nonsense. I call everything as I see it. In the past, I've strongly criticized AMD for bringing out the 300-series rebrands instead of proper competition for Maxwell, and criticized Fiji for not being competitive enough with GM200 and for lacking modern features such as HDMI 2.0 and HEVC Main10 decoding. And I defended Nvidia's GM206 for being the only realistic option (until FinFET hit the market) for people who wanted a future-proof HTPC dGPU.

The problem is that there are some posters - we all know who they are - who, no matter what the facts, invariably shit on AMD and boost Nvidia and Intel. It gets tiresome to deal with such people since you're not going to change their minds; they continue to speak in absolutes no matter how often they've been wrong in the past. The bottom line is that posts from these posters have zero informational content. If you know person X is always going to say something bad about AMD and something good about Nvidia, and it's usually the same sort of stuff over and over again, they're really just spamming.

There are between 5 and 10 such individuals on Nvidia/Intel's side, and maybe 2 or 3 AMD fanboys who are just as bad. I strongly suspect some of these people may not be mere fanboys, but paid marketing shills. If it were up to me, all these people would be banned. And the resulting quality of conversation on the board would go way up.

I'm speaking from the experience here, ive been dubbed a "Nvidia/Intel fanboy" so many times just because i dare to disagree or criticise anything that AMD/Oxide/Wharever said about something. This has been getting out of control since Mantle was announced, because people has been getting more agressive, and im not talking about this forum alone.

Im not saying there are no fanboys or people following an agenda, but this has become a witch hunt, and its getting tiredsome.

Posting something like "Oh the 1070 is going to be a great card! #1 seller just like the 970!" over and over doesn't really add anything to a conversation, it just comes off as trolling.. It's fine to make that observation once, but when you repeat it over and over you really start to sound like you work for the marketing team.

Anyway, back on topic. I do think it's interesting that the it sounds like the baseline RX 480 will be somewhere in the 390X/980 range, and that there will be custom variants with an extra power connector (8 pin?) that will focus more on pure performance and higher clocks right out of the box. Using the same chip to target different price points might make sense for AMD right now, especially if AMD doesn't have VEGA ready right now. Baseline, lower power chip for the mainstream market, and a highly overclocked custom cards for the performance market. Of course there will still be people that will want more performance and for them it sounds like they'll have to wait for VEGA or go with the 1070 or 1080.

No the NDA gets lifted and the cards released on the same day. Otherwise there might be some of the usual suspect sites who might sabotage AMD before official the launch date.

The repeated zero informational content of some posters is certainly irritating.

I suggested a new forum heading in which the OP could refuse and cancel posts by those they saw as disruptive without having to rely on the mods. A sort of private thread situation where you could be shown the door if trying to cause mayhem. No one seemed to like the idea. Don't even know if it's possible. Maybe it's a foolish idea and unworkable.

This isn't how public forums work. If you want it that way, please go start your own community and leave the relatively free ones free.

Sounds like a child who sticks their fingers in their ears and screams "la la la!"

Guys, this thread isnt the place for discussing problems with posters or the forum/mods. Take that to moderation discussions, and report posts that break the rules. Back on topic. Thanks!
