That article is a rehash of a multitude of different rumours from the past 3 months or so and AMD's own public statements. I can't find anything remotely new in there.

All that does is confirm Radeon 480 branding, though it's interesting it's RX. I'm assuming X becomes 9 soon enough.

No effin way! They even printed 144hz on the label! Wasn't the 1080 running this thing at 1080 with about 200fps?!

That's just the refresh rate of the monitor. Doesn't mean the game is running at 144 fps.

Who is this Thrax person anyway? Is he a member of this forum? Maybe we could get more tidbits out of him...

Well, it's 1440p OpenGL vs 1080p Vulkan, but regardless, there's little we can learn from that picture except that AMD hasn't got a Vulkan build and of course the name.

BlitzWulf, what did the tweet say?

And why do the press get to go hands on with this for a month before launch? What would be the point of that? I say soft-launch that thing next week!

You do realize that tech demo was for freesync, showing off a curved 144Hz display, none of which exists today on the market.

The refresh rate has nothing to do with frames rates, it was about the display.

Ohhh, I did know that. So the game shipped on OpenGL I take? Why would NVidia use the Vulkan build for their demo?

Nevermind then. Though it would make sense if the GPU would be able to handle the display's hz in their own demo show. What brand is it btw?

Doesn't show who made the panel. The actual "monitor" is most likely unbranded. AMD often develops products to show off technology, or to work with partners. They have developed several laptop dev platforms. They are use for testing, demoing to the press, and working with partners.

The original Tweet was a straight monitor pitch ,The fact that the specs were included seems to be an "oversight"

That is standard procedure really the press needs time with these products before release so that their viewers can see their favorite journo's,reviewer's,youtuber's etc. opinion of a product before they buy it.

What I really got from it was if this is a 1080p screen using VSR is that an ultrawide? I can't test myself but I thought VSR didnt work for 21:9 monitors ?

Also AMD has Demoed Polaris 10 at 1440p twice, now and at Capsaicin if they can deliver 1440p 60fps or better with full fat Polaris 10 for under 300$ I think they will do well.

But an entire MONTH?! All we really need from these reviewers are benchmarks and numbers.

You've got to take into account time to receive either reference review cards from AMD or the AIB partner cards, time to benchmark each and every card and then write the review followed by proofreading and editing. One month is a reasonable amount of time for every media website to be on even ground when the cards are actually released and on the market (June 29th!).

just by reading this forum extensively for the last 2 years, yes, it is true, 100%.

Well first your assessment of religion = brainwashing would have to be accurate. Keeping in mind you can find extreme examples of everything. It's painting the entirety with the examples of a few simply because it fits a narrative that's flawed from the start.

head finally registered the date is June 29 and not May 29

with that timeframe, I'd be very surprised if Nvidia does not have something (1060) to rain on AMD's parade by then

Nvidia does not need to be better than AMD

similar price point and within 10-15% performance of current games and AMD will be playing catch up in the $200 - $300 segment
