Read back pages of this topic before posting. It is your fault to believe in this forum hype.

I don't believe in any hype. I know exactly what to expect from a $200 GPU. What offends me is people like you shitting on a mainstream GPU for the sole reason it's mainstream.

So you got a friend price deal on what is arguably one of the best 28nm aib cards ever created and that somehow makes a 200$ mainstream card bad in price/perf for everyone else?
What are you getting at ?
Let me ask you this you paid 430 for your card that most likely edges out an OC 1070 which people have been paying 450$ for,
now AMD is offering 980 performance for 200$ do you think 980ti/1070 performance is worth 230-250+ dollars more?

I am not. I am stating fact ,where people thought that a $200 GPU from AMD can over take gtx 980 Ti. In reality, it cannot. People should care and think before they give their assumption about AMD rather then felling sorry or angry and blaming Nvidia for AMD downfall.

You haven't done close to that, where are the millions of 980 Ti's available for everyone to purchase at $430 USD over the next 12 months? Where i live all 980ti's are $800+ a 480 8gb will be 300 to 330.

480 8gb value >>>>>>>>>>>>>GTX 980 Ti value.

7 "greater than" symbols when the comparison is an overclocked secondhand aftermarket card to a new reference card, whose performance is unknown (the results from Polaris tech day blow away what was shown at Computex), at stock, and even then, the difference is probably not great anyway.

I'm speechless, but not surprised considering the source.

Unfortunately blaming location like that is on your end not ours so when we are comparing these prices like this figure it out and if you are honestly still paying $800 for the ti's it sucks to be you.

Question for owners of 3-series AMD cards - does AMD include a driver CD in the box or do they tell you to get the most recent drivers online?

Its the reality of the majority of the world, there is a cost for holding expensive low rate of sale stock vs affordable high rate of sale stock. Thats why GPU's in the 300-400 AUD range are largely AUD to USD + $0-$30, and the high end card (fury X 1080, 980ti ) have a much higher margin.

The common expectation here is 980 or 390X performance from RX 480.

If it's under that, then it's bad. If it's over that, then it's good. But around that level, it's the most common leaks up to now.

We do not know how well it overclocks, that remains to be seen.

Amazing that this card is so small. Almost the physical board size of the Nano, but not using HBM.

Flounder's Edition card is soo much longer (remember that the board stops about the edge of the center part of the fan on 480). Can tell which side really provides the premium PCB.

Some custom cards (WC?) might make for amazing HTPC, though those might even go to the smaller 460/470.

Found this video on youtube ( I dont know if its been posed) an interesting breakdown of the RX480 PCB

why would u even care about that (if you're not asking purely out of curiosity)?

Gauging the possibility that none of the leaked benchmarks have an appropriate driver, and that AMD would only release it to reviewers on a particular date, and then to the public at large on the 29th. Seems unlikely though if they're including the driver on a CD that's already in all of the boxes.

I doubt even the majority of the DIYers have an optical drive these days.

Ashes appears heavily compute limited more than any particular vendor bias.

Intentionally biased games is a pretty dumb theory in general, who wants to make their game perform worse on half the market just 'cause?

Sure if you ignore history of company that made it.

For months their only product was Mantle benchmark, then they announced they have 3 Mantle games in development which were conveniently used to prove how Mantle is getting great traction among developers.

And they barely released first one recently.

Now it gets more hilarious - after skipping on content just to push game out they are spending resources on making engine work on 20 core cpus
