AMD price cuts

we begin a new quarter and prepare for the busiest time of the year, selected AMD dual-core desktop processors will have a reduction in suggested prices effective next Monday, October 8.

This will be a great opportunity to upgrade customers to dual-core, as the AMD Athlon? X2 5000+, 5200+, 5600+, 6000+ and 6400+ processors all will feature new pricing. Please contact your authorized AMD distributor for specific pricing and availability details.

Threads on upcoming price cuts are not considered Hot Deals.

I doubt it will affect the 939 dual core Opterons, but it sure would be nice.

Most likely will. Because everything else is cheaper.

Everyone likes lower prices... but cutting the prices on the top end dual core processors doesn't seem like the best way to induce upgrades? Wouldn't cutting the middle and low end make more sense?

People who buy top end are already willing to spend the bucks for the latest stuff, aren't they?

AMD still makes processors? I thought they specialize in coasters now.....
