Its worse than anyone expected.

Revenue is down to 942M$. 137M$ loss.

The CPU+GPU division is (essentially) completely wiped out.

Revenue went from 532M$ to 379M$ Q1 to Q2.

To put things into perspective:
Q1 2012 1203M$ CPU revenue.
Q1 2013 751M$ CPU revenue.
Q1 2014 663M$ CPU revenue.
Q1 2015 532M$ CPU+GPU revenue.
Q2 2015 379M$ CPU+GPU revenue.

Wow, almost a 30% decline! Some of that is just the weakness in Desktops in general, but still...

Its desktop, mobile and graphics. The PC division is on life support now. And the patient is dead.

Before accepting things are really as bad as you say here, I would like to get MiddleoftheRoad's take on this.

Not particularly shocking. Everyone in PC's is taking a beating, Intel included. I suspect many were stalling purchases this quarter waiting for the release of Windows 10. I expect a rebound in Q3, although it will probably be modest. I just don't see Windows 10 having the same sales impact of Windows 7.

Damage control squad will probably try to convince us that Intel and AMD's financials look similar and blame it on the declining desktop market.

At AMD's peak, Intel was still at least six to seven times larger. Never in their history was anything financially similar. Just another fanboy diatribe.

I do enjoy the doom and gloom consistently coming from Shintai. But, I couldn't help but notice that AMD lost less this quarter versus Q1 2015.

CFO statement:

Computing and Graphics operating loss was $147 million, compared to an operating loss of $75 million in Q1 2015, primarily due to lower notebook processor sales.
I think someone said carrizo is a trainwreck, and they was right.

I guess that you are opening AMD related thread to better spread your usual fud..
Intel earnings

Desktop platform volumes decreased 22% from Q2 2014 to Q2 2015

Notebook platform volumes decreased 4% from the first six months of 2014 to the first six months of 2015

Show me where you said that Intel offering is a trainwreck because they sold less due to the market contracting $ wise (thanks to the contra revenues actualy..)

So....??..

As for Carrizo it s a new product and it wont be available in significant quantities before the dates officialy announced...

That is amazing. Yeah, Carrizo's sales are terrible especially since it hasn't been launched yet. /sarcasm off

The Carizzo launch is timed to coincide with the Windows 10 debut, genius. (Only media previews thus far).

Certainly but dont expect some people to post infos on this subject, even if available in the link provided by the OP, surely that the outlook is generaly what is considered as irrelevant by analysts, and of course by objective people...

For Q3 2015, AMD expects revenue to increase 6 percent, plus or minus 3 percent, sequentially.

Many websites reported launch back in early June:
www.anandtech.com/show/9319/amd-launches-carrizo-the-laptop-leap-of-efficiency-and-architecture-updates
www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-carrizo-apu-6th-gen-processor,29230.html
www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2015/06/03/amd-mobile-carrizo-apus/1

So they got it wrong or was it a paper launch?
That's 2 months before Windows 10, surely enough time to secure lots of design wins.

Those articles indeed got it wrong. Carrizo powered laptops aren't available until July 29th because they are pre-installed with Windows 10. I'm not aware of any OEM's launching Carrizo laptops with Windows 8.1. Some of Carrizo's new features require Windows 10 for full functionality from what I understand.

You think OEMs wait until launch to order chips and start building systems?

Please guys, at least once can an AMD thread be kept civil without name calling?

Pie-in-the-sky stuff is going to happen if AMD is to launch a notebook chip in Q315 and isn't shipping (and accruing revenue) in Q215.

2015 is a bad year for everyone, inside or outside tech, but is even worse for AMD. Is the survival year for the company. Better AMD get fast good capacity on 14LPP process, to try to turn things around in 2016.

BTW, Carrizo looks to be a good improvement over Kaveri.

Carrizo chips don't hit full volume production until late 3Q (hence the better 3Q guidance provided by AMD). They are still ramping up at the moment according to the latest info out of GloFlo.

When AMD secures design wins from Dell (a very loyal Intel OEM)..... The chip is probably a very solid offering for them to use Carrizo.

If AMD is badly Hurt with that, I am not imagining nVIDIA who has NOT CPU division!

AMD is on the verge of the death along nVIDIA and the whole x86 improvements. Time for a tech crash along another game crash?
Sounds gloomy, but seeing this year is gonna happen if there are no shocking improvement.

They are currently manufacturing thoses laptops, but as explained by Meddleoftheroad they are W10 dedicated, not counting that given the current trends and Carrizo competitivness OEMs will first get rid of existing inventories...

Can you provide a source?
That's later than Skylake hits the market, then why AMD did a paper launch in Q2 and hyped it as a Broadwell competitor?

Please post the link to the official launch of Carrizo on AMD's site.

.....crickets.......

That's right -- it never happened.

AMD had been stating that Carizzo launches with Windows 10 for at least the past six months. Only a manufacturer launches the product, not journalists. The writers definitely got the facts wrong on this one.

Carrizo laptops are already in the retail channel -- but can't be sold until July 29th because of Windows 10.
