People having held up buying GFX cards awaiting AMD's next gen GPU might also explain some of it.

Pretty much completely irrelevant. Also Fury X and 300 series would be part of the Q2 revenue. 300 series for OEMs released long ago too.

Not just that -- the new Radeons are priced incredibly aggressively against their Nvidia counterparts. Q3 could potentially be very good for AMD. I'd be happy if they at least break even next quarter.

By their own forecast they will not break even next quarter. They just told you to expect a $100M loss next quarter.

By selling mobile ARM or x86 chips? If it's the latter, Intel is already losing $4B a year on x86 mobile, so it doesn't seem like a very attractive market segment.

ARM chips, with an alliance with Mediatek and using CMT. I think that CMT goes FAR better on Mobile than on PC

Does anyone else feel like this is part of the plan ?
like some kinda downsizing, slow painfull exit of the markets (all of them).

It's kinda hard to think it's not intentional after this many years.

No, not intentional at all. The company wouldn't be bleeding money and missing forecast after forecast if they were on top of the situation. It would be easier, faster and more profitable to fold and liquidate in 2009 than keep muddling through until today.

What I want to know is who are the idiots that keep pouring money into AMD? The company hardly ever turns a profit and surely they must know this.

The shareholders are bleeding for sure, but the banks and bondholders that are already out made a hell of a money with the company.

No wonder why they're only trying to sell it as a 4K card, it's the only resolution where it comes close to Geforce GTX980 Ti. Fury X is a $550-600 card at best and I'm sure the 'benevolent' AMD would try to charge even more than $650 if NVIDIA didn't crash the party. Unfortunately for them soon games will require more than 4GB VRAM, especially at those insane resolutions (they wouldn't launch 8GB R9 390X otherwise).

Yeah, those bonds are paying over 10% last I checked.
As long as they don't go belly up that's pretty good.

With the min investment req on the bonds you'd get payed enough to build one of their APU systems every year.

You did pay 650$ for your card..?..

No, more like 1000$...

So Fury is competitive with both Nvidia higher offerings, besides AMD has proven that it s more future proof than the competition, otherwise you wouldnt have upgraded your dual Titan Z, certainly a very good perf/price ratio as well, isnt it..

What? I don't have a Titan Z or ever did. And the Titan is irrelevant in this discussion because the Fury X gets pummeled by the $650 980 Ti and of course you knew that.

This isn't a video card thread.

Surely but that s not a troll thread either, otherwise we wouldnt have posts in this order :

And then this one appearing :

Lol

It could be argued that's an announcement and not a product launch

Obviously you re posting without even reading nearby posts that contradict you in advance, but i guess that it s not about accurate discussions, so much for your "advices"...
