She said the same about Carrizo. Tapdance and no delivery.

From Q4 2015 results (CFO)

Computing and Graphics segment revenue was up 11% from Q3 2015, primarily due to higher notebook processor sales.

Just because Carrizo doesnt sell the same numbers as Intels Mobile CPUs doesnt mean it didnt deliver.

You do know you have to compare with Q4 2014 and not Q3 2015, right? I know Carrizo wasn't launched there, but comparing Q3 with Q4 is misleading.

AMDs PC division went from 662M$ to 470M$ from Q4 to Q4. What a massive success

Q3 to Q3 was 741M$ down to 424M$.

As always, AMDs next APU is a bigger flop than the previous. And there is nothing pointing to Zen being the miracle. Despite we keep hearing one PR talk after the other about the next great product. You are going to be lucky if AMD even hits 3B$ revenue in 2016.

So that's a very high end but you know really the meat of the market.

I don't think Su is referring to actual performance, reads more like "a large portion".

My take is that it won't be competing with the highest tier of Intel Xeons. Not getting a "better than expected" vibe.

You are full of BS, 2015 was down a massive 11% for everyone in PC shipments and there is a thread on AT CPU and OC forums that YOU started.

From Intel's Q4 2015
http://files.shareholder.com/downlo...-B0D8-608A8EED2129/Earnings_Release_Final.pdf
Q4 2015 compared to Q4 2014 :
- Notebook platform volumes decreased 10%
- Desktop platform volumes decreased 9%
- Tablet platform volumes of 9 million units decreased 33%

So what division failed the most?

What the hell man, you were talking about the Carrizo, AMD said they had an increase from Q3 primarily due to higher Laptop sales. What was the market in 2014 is another story, if Carrizo wouldnt deliver as you said it would not increase the revenue from Q3 to Q4 in a time that PC sales are shrinking.

On Zen, she confirmed that it will arrive first on desktops and that servers only in 2017. She's reporting design wins for Zen but without gauging the interest on the market this might be just hot air. What I find interesting is that whatever interest she's reporting on server and workstation markets is not enough to absorb all the units of the initial production run, so my hunch is that this interest in Zen is not big at all. Zen will be a flop on servers.
Can't they be flexible there, moving dies between server/HEDT?

Opteron went by the tens of thousands in the beginning.

The assumption mrmt make that they cannot move all server and workstation units and that is why they first release the Desktop SKUs is flawed. You always release Desktop/Laptop first and then Server because Server parts need 1 or even 2 Quarters more for validation.

PC sales didn't shrink from Q3 to Q4. They shrinked YoY.

Lisa Su said:
In the channel, we delivered our third straight quarter of sequential revenue growth and further reduced downstream product inventories based
on improved demand for FX CPUs and A-Series APUs. We also made progress diversifying our client computing revenue as we further expand into
the commercial PC market.
must sound like a blatant lie to some very skeptical guys here.

Nehalem proves you wrong. When a company is so far behind as AMD is, you focus on servers first if you are able.

If the PC volumes continue to shrink the way they did in 2015 the next couple of years, you will see Intel release XEONs and HEDT before even Laptop SKUs.

Both AMD and Intel had higher revenue for Q4 than Q3 in client PC.

You may have a decrease in Volume but you may have an increase in Revenue due to higher ASP or the opposite, example from Intel Q4 2015.

Q4 2015 compared to Q4 2014 :
- Notebook platform volumes decreased 10%
- Notebook platform average selling prices increased 6%
- Desktop platform volumes decreased 9%
- Desktop platform average selling prices increased 9%
-Tablet platform volumes of 9 million units decreased 33%

Regarding the FX and A series, these are mostly channel parts, and this distinction is very important, as AMD had issues on the channel sales a few quarters ago with sales stopping while inventory was adjusting, to the point they had an inventory write down. What you are seeing now is sales picking up after three quarters of adjustment, not really unexpected.

Nope, it was not. I think they are counting on it to withstand the pressures for the looming implosion of their CPU business.

No doubt. Its probably time for investors to start looking at the terms of the bank financing, at least the analysts should be.

They still have 270MM to withdrawn from the revolving credit line (backed by receivables), so I think liquidity won't be a concern at least until Q2, and this under a duress scenario.

The last two quarters respite of their CPU/GPU business basically ensured that the company will live to the point of releasing Zen on desktops, beyond that only after evaluating Zen performance.
