Nv currently only have 1 good card GTX980TI.Everything else is just worse than AMD cards
380 vs GTX960-380 winner
390 vs GTX970-390 winner
390x vs GTX980-same performance 390x is cheaper
Fury vs GTX980 Fury is 10-30% faster 50USD more expensive.Fury is no brainer
Fury X vs GTx980TI- only here Nv wins

In other words, the only card worth buying in any of these categories is the 980TI? I'm only saying this because I already bought them of course. My scar still hurts from the back surgery. That left kidney was really stuck in there and didn't want to come out.

Only Nv card worth buying is GTX980TI.It is better card than Fury X.

I'm seriously thinking a Fury might be in my future. I'm not too keen on the price of a 980ti...and 4k won't happen for me for a bit.

You can wait all you want but prices this time will not go down for either of them. NV is happy where it is and AMD doesn't care about market share at this point.

Yeah I don't agree with that, 970 arguably has better price/performance than R9 390.

The VRAM issue sucks but if you're using it as a 1080p card as intended I don't see 3.5GB being much of a limitation.

R9 290s are a better buy than the 390 or 970, but they won't be around for much longer.

I have to say, that power consumption of Asus Strix Fury is pretty much impressive.

I think it is possible to squeeze that GPU to 125W and put into Mac Pro.

Every single one of those points is highly debatable and only one has anything to do with the Fury's performance (relative or otherwise). In other words, nice troll post.

As much as I DONT want fury.... that water cooling built in makes me want it. Noise is ANNOYIGN and I hate turning my PC off (I sleep right next to it basically). But I'm worried about pump noise with Fury. But I think it won't matter, my projector fan drowns everything out and isn't annoying, with headphones or a movie going I forget it completely.

The thing for me is, the reason AMD cards usually do bad is gameworks features and I wouldn't enable them as they kill FPS on BOTH brands.

I do like HardOCP's reviews though a lot. Their highest playable settings comparison is great. Apples to Apples is nice too, but if I only have to disable 1-2 settings to get the same level of performance that may be worth the money for me depending on the price of the cards. HardOCP's reviews allow me to get better datapoints at making those calls. Their 290x review recently showed me just how much I'd rather get a 290x over a GTX 980 as the performance between the two in that review at the highest playable settings when talking both settings and performance was just not enough for me to care.

This the problem facing the fury cards, custom cooled non-ref cards. Whats the best OC out of a fury?

The problem facing fury cards is no one knows what the best OC possible is because we don't have access to the voltage....

That graph shows the issue perfectly. Take the 390X. 100-150$ cheaper, close to the same performance and TWICE the VRAM. The competition against nVidia is bad enough. But putting 8GB on the 390/390X while the Fury series is "handicapped" with 4GB doesnt make it any easier.

its an odd move.

Nothing we don't already know though. AMD is bad at marketing, timing, spin, etc. So no surprise. If Nvidia did the same thing, they'd make it somehow feel and look amazing. Because they know how spin something.

The real problem is that even if voltage unlocked, probably less than 1% of buyers would resort to using it. The initial reviews serve as the main reference points for those interested in the cards. Very few would probably be involved in normal OC'ing let alone voltage OC'ing. Same applies to Nvidia buyers.

Bah! AMD was supposed to make my decision easy this round with all the hype surrounding the Fury cards. I was all ready to pick up a Fury (X) to get somewhere close to the performance I have now but an aftermarket 980Ti is looking like the better choice at this point. Problem is I'm set on getting a 34" Ultrawide and the G-Sync version will be $200-300 more expensive for essentially the same monitor. I'm not sure the extra 10-20% performance is worth $200-300. :\

So with voltage unlocked, that means AIB's can't provide fury pro models with voltage changed and higher OC'd models?

Yeah, that's the nice thing about VRR is that you won't notice 10-20% difference in performance. Especially, if your FPS is above 60 FPS. Without VRR, that 10-20% is noticeable via the odd hitch/stutter that kills smoothness.
