Steady45 fps with all eye candy vs 60 fps with compromises....I'll take the former any time.
PC gaming wasn't all about 60 FPS. Back in the 3Dfx Voodoo days most everything you played was sub 60 fps. You would need a top of the line Pentium 2 400MHz and two Voodoo 2s in SLI just to get 60 fps. 0x AA and 0x anisotropic filterting.
One whole frame, same minimums. Margin of error. CPU bottleneck bud.

Obviously time has moved on since then.. GLQuake was only running at 25fps for me on the Verite, but it did have built in AA, AF etc which the voodoo did NOT have (resulting textures and game look bland and aliased), but managed 35fps... guess which became more popular and for what reason?
Voodoo won out because 35fps was simply a better gaming experience than 25fps with better eye candy. It's also a fast shooter, you need faster fps. Fast forward to recent times, the standard has shifted to 60fps because most monitors are at 60hz, and its the magical zone where the general gaming population is satisfied with smoothness and low latency for fast gameplay. Sure, 120fps IS better, but its still niche.
lol that is not a cpu bottleneck...One whole frame, same minimums. Margin of error. CPU bottleneck bud.

While those of us who hang out on the forums find 60hz or higher the standard, when ever you see newcomers show up for advice on stuff, they usually ask for what will get them 30-40 FPS. More people are moving on to 60 FPS, but there still seems to be plenty of people who are fine with less.
then there is something wrong with your vision. lolHell, I'm on this forum and I still find 30 fps plenty.
So, why is nVidia faster in Crysis 3? :sneaky:

I guess developers talk much when they get paid by a graphics company. D:
Honestly this generation is boring because nvidia = amd at all price points they have a card at. Depending on where you run the test scene either company wins by a handful of frames. Bickering about who wins is pointless.
Nah, it's overpriced for a gaming card.
You're playing for 1/3 DP.
