Can one of you ATI owners running Vista test forcing v-sync using CCC (turn off in-game setting if it has one)? Make sure it's a DirectX game.

Just curious, what was your issue?

Just as I was about to connect to the server (sending client info or w/e) it would crash to desktop and give me a D3D errror, something something.

The weird thing was it would only happen if I opened another program first (i.e.: opened my browser, or WMP or something) if I turned on my computer, then went straight to the game, there were no problems.

Very weird problem, but all good now!

Do you guys preferr using this or the omega drivers? Which one do you feel more comfortable with and why?

I had issues with the Omega Drivers (kept causing a couple of my games to crash) so I switched back to Catalysts a little while back.

I only get the basic options, how do I get into the advanced on these new 7.2 drivers?

Is it still possible to enable EATM through the registry with these Cats in Vista?

My Natural-Selection test was on Windows XP SP2, to answer the question.

And my nickname in N-S is [FR] La Sounounouw ! (just don't try to pronounce it if you don't like sudden seizures), and you'll usually see me playing on 195.224.41.20:27015 and 84.246.224.245:27015, two great servers, and if both are full then I pretty much get a random one with good ping and running Classic maps.

I've actually had that error a few times with different cat drivers. I load CS:S try to play it crashes reload drivers and its all fixed. Kinda weird.

Anyone else getting 1-2 messages a day about CCC having an error and needing to report it?

yes! added eatm and atmalphasharpenmode -- work great

Would any of you guys be willing to give me a walkthrough on enabling this with in Vista?

I added the EATM and ATMAlphaSharpenMode strings to the registry and gave them values of 1 as directed by the Rage3d thread I found on it. Doesn't appear to have any effect in X3 Reunion. Are there specific games that are good to test this feature with?

What bug is that?

Caution: The ATI Radeon? X1950 XT is currently not supported under the Windows Vista operating system

??

It definitely is supposed to say GT, not XT. Or at least that's what it says on ATI's website anyhow.

BTW, what happens if you don't use driver cleaner before installing these? I think I only had 7.1 prior to these, but I'm not sure.

There's a problem with switching between 2D and 3D clocks on the X1950XT in Vista. You have to disable the "Ati External Event Handler" service to keep it from crashing whenever you load a game. The workaround basically forces the card to run with 2D clocks all the time and seems to keep CCC from opening (at least for me). It's a crappy situation and there really is no reason for it to happen.

I haven't had that problem, and I have an x1950xt. Now, my computer does randomly crash when changing resolution in game, but it's fine starting up a game that already has the correct resolution selected.
