Alright, so we've had some leaks so far. I don't know if any of it's been confirmed yet, as it's pretty early, but here is what I've surmised so far (massive grain of salt of course):

If if turns out to have RDNA 2 and 12 CU, I could see iGPU performance potentially almost doubling over Cezanne.

If I've made any mistakes or gotten anything wrong, please let me know. I'd also love to hear more knowledgeable people weigh in on their expectations.

I wish I could buy a Ryzen 6600u laptop at reasonable price but I cannot find a single laptop at Costco(my preferred place due to warranty/return policy) or Best Buy. Meanwhile I can get 1240P with 16GB for 650 with 100% srgb screen. But my preference is Rembrandt for efficiency reasons. I wish AMD could get their act together on laptops :-(
i agree it sucks that 6600/6800U's are still almost nonexistent going on 5 months from when they were announced. it doesn't matter how great a product is if no one can buy them. if they are not widely available by fall it may be time to consider other options.

For a long time, I couldn't find 5600U and 5800U laptops on Amazon. There are still few models available but considerably more expensive. 5500U and 5700U are the affordable ones.

that's because the 5600 & 5800U are zen3 while 5500 & 5700 are zen2 and not much if at all better than the previous generation 4500/4800U.

The 5700u was always a remarkable value for people that didn't need bleeding edge performance, but wanted a useful laptop. It was typically the absolute cheapest 8 core 16 thread laptop on the market for the last year, and, with a full Vega8 iGPU, gave passable gaming performance for casual gamers. The power management improvements with Lucienne were better than expected over Renoir in actual usage. You STILL can't find a lot of 5600/5800u laptops out there that aren't in OEM to Business channels in the US market. They exist, but, it takes work to find them.

I would be interested in an HP Aero 13 refresh with a 6600U or 6800U. I wonder if LPDDR5 pricing is holding that up, or AMD not shipping any 6000U parts in quantity or if HP has no plans.

I just bought a nice AMD Thinkpad L115 Gen 2 (well really 2) with the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U for like $480. Seems like a good unit. I assume if its in a full blooded ThinkPad they've sold a few of them. I just didn't think it was worth it to get the next CPU up given the thermal envelope was the same.

My understanding is that 5500U/5700U didn't sell all that well so OEMs don't wanna take a risk on the Zen 3 parts. It this is true, it doesn't bode well for the 6000 series from an availability perspective.
i don't think any of this bodes well
Wrong. Notnmucj on speed indeed, battery (among others) life much better.
battery life is better but that's about it. certainly not worth it to upgrade from renoir like the 6800U would be if/when it's ever actually available.

Crazy good price. Can't find it for that price online.

Yup, I bought the first one for about that a week ago. Then this happened.

Lenovo refused to price match themselves so I ordered a new one and the first one is on its way back. I was surprised they couldn’t do it, but I waited a day too long to call.

Bought the upgrade to the in-business/home warranty (hate shipping to depot for repair) for like $30 and after tax was just over $500. It was $350 cheaper than my prior order of the same exact laptop.

great-new roadmaps on amazing up and coming products that no one will be able to purchase for years after they are announced, lol. forget about phoenix & strix point- i can't help but wonder if we will even see decent 6800U laptop's for under $1k in 2022?

Bigger issue is that AMD marketing sucks. They have better power management in their mobile parts but I don't see OEMs advertising that compared to their Intel-based products. Reality is that the the volume is in Intel laptops and OEMs don't want to do anything to hurt those sales.

I guess the issue AMD has in the mobile market is the same as the desktop market: AMD prefers OEM contracts and business consumer market over direct to consumer sales. With capacity being limited, the latter gets to see less even if AMD's overall market share actually increased (in mobile market it's the highest it ever been afaik).

My L14 Gen 2 w/ 5400U is a fantastic machine. I'm extremely happy with it.
for the past 2 years my current 4500U laptop has also been excellent but the fact that there are now 6800U's which are double the performance but are virtually unavailable going on 6 months after being announced is vexxing for those of us looking to upgrade- especially after the statement from AMD that there would be many options from mulitiple vendors.

It's definitely missing a lot. Any thing CTO, for example. HP alone sells more than 4 models available with 5800U/5825U/5850U.

I expect 6800U/600U systems to have some availability in summer. If it is too late they miss the school season.
