Richland provides that good enough level for average steam user, a thing AMD probably targeted. With 2133Mhz memory and stock APU clocks, majority of today's games are perfectly playable at low settings and 1080p(as demonstrated by AtenRa and many reviews). The target user group is not a HC gamer profile, these are regular folks who probably have one or two kids and want to get a solid and relatively cheap PC (for entire household) that works good in most of the stuff they use their PC for (internet, office, productivity apps, light gaming, maybe some programing). Richland is a perfect fit and nicely sets the stage for Kaveri.

Except the fastest RAM you generally find in an OEM system is 1600 mhz.

From Anand's recent review: Metro last light: playable at 768p, unplayable at 900p
Bioshock Infinite: playable at 768, unplayable at 900p, perhaps
playable at lower settings
Tomb Raider, BF3, Crysis 3, the trend continues--all unplayable at 900p.

You really call this a "perfect fit" for gaming, when adding a HD7750 will double the performance?

I checked out techspots review and at 1680x1050 med details, almost every game plays at 17 fps.
This is half from what playable is called.IGPs are going to matter only when we can have double the current performance.

When they get double the current performance, games will need double or more. It's thus a never-ending problem, affecting both Intel and AMD, and one of the reasons for Haswell's high-end mobile parts having a big L4 cache (why can't more have that?!).

I have Run some tests with dual channel 1600MHz mem,

Civilization V @ 1080p Low DX-11= Playable
DIRT ShowDown @ 1080p Medium DX-11 = Playable
Sleeping Dogs @ 1080p Low DX-11 = Playable
Formula 1 2012 @ 1080 High DX-11 = Playable

I believe countles more DX-9/10 games will be playable

Thanks AtenRa . Nothing better than to use real HW and see it for yourself

So you are saying reviews from trusted sites dont use "real hardware"???
Nope I'm referring to "experts" on this board who doesn't have Richland/Trinity Vs AtenRa who has it .

edit : here is SA's take in 1080p with lowest settings
If you don’t want to put up the money for a discrete graphics card, choosing a Richland based system for playing games at 1080P is a viable option. Of course you’re going to have to put up with almost always using the lowest quality settings, and occasionally dropping below the 1080P resolution to get playable frame-rates, but if those are compromises that you’re willing to make then you can build a low-cost gaming system with the A10-6800K.S|A
