For anyone with an Asus Prime X570-Pro, they just released a new bios a few days ago.

Thanks.

This is what is listed for changes.

Anyone know if this is a good motherboard? I love this one cause its like my current Z270 which has the same rgb i like. Gonna be pairing it with a 3700x if possible for stock operation. Also some 3600mhz Trident z memory.

It's a basic 4+2 board. Should be okay with a 3700x, but I wouldn't try anything more amp-hungry than that. Not going to be a great overclocker either (and again, 3700x chips usually don't OC that well).

Meh prob gonna stick to the x570 GB . If i decided to get a discounted 4000 series when the 5000 series comes then that board should handle whatever end top chip i could find either it a 16 core or something with more cores perhaps?

Edit: thanks for the link it looks to meh to me I will go with this

I have been playing around with this "EDC feature" with mixed results, these are my findings:

Cinebench R20 = good multithread, bad singlethread (got 10.1k in multi, highest ive gotten before with tweaked PBO is 10k)
CPU-Z benchmark = good multi and single (only benchmark where singlethread dont throttle, think i was running it at 4.775 ghz sustained)

Geekbench 4 = good multithread, bad singlethread.
EDC bug @ https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15430206 single=5814, multi=61737
PBO @ https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15430351 single=6337, multi =59344

Geekbench 5 = good multithread, bad singlethread.
EDC bug @ https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/1908481 single=1172, multi=17092
PBO @ https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/1909279 single=1392, multi=16582

These were my settings:
PPT = 200
TDC = 130
EDC = 25 (i'm using a 3950x)

Had to use pbo scalar 5, otherwise cinebench r20 singlethread would crash.
Could not find any settings to stabilize the singlethread performance, going back to tweaked PBO for now.

How far off before the 5000 series is a thing? On Newegg last i checked all the GB x570 boards are gone. I may go back to that "decent looking 3700x supported" cheap mobo, hold out on a 3700x and then hop to the 5000 series. Been a minute since i last followed the series.

I think the 4000 series is going to be a mild upgrade, prob best holding off till the 5000 series perhaps? Assuming its no that far off will a 3700x be rendered obsolete for gaming before the 5000 series even hits?

So thinking....cheap 3700x platform upgrade and hold out till 5000 series or go all out now then idk HOPE the 4000 series is even a worthy upgrade or else its gonna be 5000 series on a new platform? I heard something about a 15% IPC increase, not sure how much truth there is to it but that sounds very mild to me.

@Det0x

What did you change for the last run?

I had forgot to disable global c-states, that's why i was getting lower singlethread scores...

But in the end, i could not get the cpu 100% stable with this EDC bug, so i'm back to tweaked PBO now.
Not much difference in performance.

Buildzoid PBO settings:
Geekbench 4 @ https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/15430811 singlethread=6382, multithread=60482
Geekbench 5 @ https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/1911278 singlethread=1398, multithread=16686

Looks like this is the only good X570 now back in stock, if this lasts idk but its the one i actually originally wanted.

Talk about emotions,i was thinking of opting for the 3700x/B450 with a 2080ti but with recent Nvidia announcement gonna hold off for sure on Ampere so its 3900/3950x/x570 with my budget currently assuming the above board is in stock. GB making the most solid 570 and its the choice i clearly want. Picking it over a Asus which i used to run religiously for years. I even swore off GB till now lol.

Yeah i had issues balancing between a cheaper cpu and that 2080ti or going all out on a cpu and getting ampere end of year. Was bugging me but i finally made up my mind with that recent announcement.

I think you want a x570 for a 3900x or 3950x

Random thoughts about Ryzen right now. I have a Ryzen 1st gen chip and the 3600. I wish I didn't update my Ryzen chipset because there was a time it would run 4200mhz non stop without ever a crash. With the current chipset I am @ 4.1ghz totally stable. I just downloaded the latest chipset from 4/7/2020 and I will see if it can do 4200mhz without crashing. I went literally months without a single crash @ 4.2ghz last year.

Yeah i feel the same for those 2 chips cause while a cheap B450 could work it may not last as long either with such chips. I got no issues spending the coin on X570 i just have a overall $2,000 budget this month once the stimulus comes in and was playing with different ideas like 3700x+2080ti upgrades. Ignoring the idea of a 2080ti in my build now, will stick with my 1080ti till Ampere so yeah many options have opened up since that decision given my overall budget. I do know the linked board above is all i would need for a stock 3900x as anything else for me would be waste.

Got closer to $800 on Friday before the stimulus comes in so i could still jump on a new GB mobo/3900x and i guess crawl so to speak on my current 16gb 2666mhz kit for a bit. Wait on a non stimulus check in June worst case then drop in the right ram/heatsink then slap in the 1tb nvme i been wanting a while. Then set till Ampere and whatever the 5000 series Ryzen has to offer?

I am finally joining your ranks as a Ryzen 3000 builder. I have a 3600x coming from B&H. I have an MSI x570 Gaming Edge WiFi motherboard, G.Skill Aegis 3200 C16 16GB kit RAM, Intel 1TB PCIe Gen3 NVME drive, and an 8TB Seagate 5900 256MB cache HDD, the 4 of these are coming from NewEgg. It only cost me about $750 total.

I will be using my R9 380 for a little while, I am waiting on RDNA2 GPUs and then saving for a 1440p or 4k Freesync2 monitor.

Edit: If any kind soul is willing to donate an AMD GPU that is better than my R9 380 2GB I am not above accepting charity. LOL

Due to inventory going all over the place on Newegg, i blue print my shopping cart and EVERY damn time i set up a X570 of my choosing or even in some cases a good B450 they ALL go out of stock. Given i want a 3900x in my build this was the last good board i have so far found still in stock that can run a 3900x without vrm throttling. I heard good things about Taichi. Big issue is 3600mhz support but i got no issues with the cl14 3200mhz kit. Its quite cheap currently.

Then the highly recommended 3200 cl14 kit that most like pairing with it. The mobo has issues i guess often going over 3200 but I have found myself quite appealed by the price and performance of this kit a few times over on cheaper non x570 builds.

Should be a nice "cheap" way to get a 3900x up and running and unless that mobo goes oos i got intentions of like a midnight purchase when my funds come in where the total comes out fairly perfect with my overall non stimulus budget anyways. Hopefully the stimulus comes in same time.

Unless i missed one, i found really no more decent in stock boards that can run a 3900x without issue. If anyone happens to find one please feel free to link me it. Shopping exclusively on Newegg as i hate Amazon but if anyone has a list of similar stuff that is better or cheaper on some site maybe i never heard of please share?

I am typing on an X470 Taichi with 3600 cl 16 memory. It runs 100% load 24/7 no problems.

Edit: fixed memory

I assume its one of many configs working on your farm of rigs for folding@home? I sent message
Yes, its one of my 2 main boxes I use for browsing, ordering etc, the only 2 running windows, all the rest are linux. This one has a 1080ti which right now is idle.(power/heat savings)

x370 Taichi did DDR4-3466 on my 1800x years ago. No idea why x470 Taichi wouldn't at least do the same with a capable kit.
My x470 Taichi that I am typing on right now is running 3600/1800IF 1T timing 16,1,5,15,35,50 with a 3900x

Edit, went back and fixed my previous post.

Running into another issue where conflicting information says my single 8 pin cpu connector may cause conflicts with a no boot given most boards require both 8+4 pin to work. Not sure if any sort of adapter is safe, and all the good options for a 3900x with only the 8 pin are currently all out of stock. Quite annoying as the GB x570 option i wanted went out of stock, then back in and now its back out. Same price as Taichi too but currently there is bad price gouging.

Mark has been in my IM helping me out a bit, my use case i am even contemplating other options honestly but sorta conflicted. Primarily a gamer first then folder, i do really nothing else tasking.

Thanks for your input about the ram, i used the gskill memory configurator and the best it offered on that Taichi was 3200mhz. I figured some kits maybe can do 3600mhz but like most configs its been a crap shot pretty much. The 3200mhz at least was guarantee and it was cheap enough too.

A lot of the x570 boards will not boot properly unless you properly populate all the auxiliary power connectors on the board. An adapter COULD work to get it to boot. I think? But if you're going x470 it might not be an issue.
