Tried both. Realtek ALC1220-VBMicrosoft or Gigabyte drivers? What's the actual audio chipset on that thing?

OnboardYou mean for the onboard sound? Or do you have your own soundcard?
Onboard
Okay, that's been a problem for a lot of the x570 boards in the Aorus lineup. Lots of people reporting dead ports. Are you getting no sound at all, or other problems?
Went through the box again and found it - must’ve mistaken it for an 8 pin PCIe cable b/4. After breakfast, I will wire it up. Surprised the guys on the MSI forum didn’t catch this. Thanks again Mark.Yes, you need 2 that are labeled CPU. Pretty sure we found the issue.
Garbled or the device disappears thus no sound. Don't get how you can mess up sound...
Have you changed any voltages in the UEFI? Is this problem at bone stock?
Stock.
Okay. There was a known problem with some audio crackling/popping on the Aorus x570 boards with different vSoC settings or VDDG or VDDP or . . . something. Don't remember which one. Anyway if you're stock, that shouldn't be an issue.
The device disappearing is a new one, though. Usually people just get dead ports. Have you bugged Gigabyte support about it yet?
put in a ticket, not sure they have anything to say other than rma, which I am reluctant since I got this from the US...
XMP shouldn't impact sound should it?
It was the extra EPS cable that did the trick (2x8 pins).
First boot to the bios on my MEG x570 Unify. It was the extra EPS cable that did the trick (2x8 pins). All this because I saw a video that both cables weren’t needed - duh. This was out of the case, so today I have to get it properly assembled and load up windows. An interesting journey, now that it's looking good. I'll add my system components to my sig in case there are further issues. Cheers!
I have a new ASRock X570 Taichi coming in to run my new 3950X. Anything I should be aware of with this motherboard as I begin assembly?
BTW, I'll be using the components left over from my now sold 9900KF system in my sig. Everything but the Intel cpu and motherboard is going into new rig.
Sorry, I did not speak up on the cables earlier, I have been in the hospital a lot lately. But I have been on a mission to dispel the rumor that only one cable is needed. Every time this crops up, it just solidifies my position.First boot to the bios on my MEG x570 Unify. It was the extra EPS cable that did the trick (2x8 pins). Question for all the new Ryzen 2 builders.
Are you just using your XMP profile for memory or the Ryzen Dram Calculator?
i'm using XMP and wondering if I should dabble in the latter.
I tried the Ryzen dram calculator and have had nothing but troubles. Others have done well. I stick with XMP now,.Question for all the new Ryzen 2 builders.

I just used the calculator for the first time yesterday. My 3600 ram is now running at 3800, so I'm happy.Question for all the new Ryzen 2 builders.

Yep, 3900X. Allot of older PSUs came with just an 8 & 4 pin connector. This board has two 8 pin 12v inputs (which is nuts, because that's over 700 watts available power!).Glad you got it running, too bad we did not figure it out until after an RMA. I was not aware of this extra cable needed until i built my new rig. Too bad as i should have gotten a better new PSU for the old rig so when it is time to replace my Ryzen 3800X i would not need a new PSU. I do remember reading that the extra cable is not always needed but don't you have a 3900X?
I was using some website. Let me see if I can find it.Has anyone created a guide on how to use that app i'm just looking at it now and there is quite alot in there.
