3 left at my local Microcenter. If I drove there i would have gotten it today. Was told that I could reserve but that turn out to be false. Any should be here by Thursday the latest. Glad I jumped on it.

Newegg'd the 3700X and a low-end MSI board. Excited to finally make a significant CPU upgrade.

Hey,
[...]
Parts so far :
- 16GB (two sticks) Gskill 3600 CL15
- 750 seasonic focus gold (started with a 650 focus platinum, but then this one is a bit cheaper and I don't think I'll see any difference, except it might stay in silent mode longer if its based on % of max power consumption)
- 1TB crucial P1 nVME
- Phanteks P600s anthracite

Basically missing one motherboard, one CPU and one graphic card, until 07/07

So, 3900x and 5700xt hold their promises (actually quite surprised by 5700xt, basically kills the VII, with which I was hesitating).

Here's what's been ordered :
- 32GB (four sticks) Gskill 3600 CL15 --> 16GB received, 16 GB in transit (400€, yes, I know, 250€ 3200CL 16 woulda been nearly the same. oh wellk, if it lasts 6 years, who cares ???)
- 750 seasonic focus gold --> 125€, received
- 1TB crucial P1 nVME --> returned and bougth 1TB M2 NVMe SSD ADATA XPG SX8200pro, for 40€ more. much better perfs according to reviews. --> in transit (170€, vs 125€ for T1)
- Phanteks P600s anthracite --> in transit (150€)
- x470 taichi --> ordered (225€)
- 3900x --> ordered (530€)

Gonna order the x470 taichi EK full waterblock. That's actually what made me go x470 : x470 + full WB == x570 price
Waiting to find a 5700xt anniversary edition in France, I want the shiny box.

I'm quite excited

For anyone looking to buy from Microcenter.

I was at the Rockville Microcenter and was told they pre-flashed all their motherboards to be compatible for Ryzen 3000. It's worth verifying in store, but hopefully this is the case for most Microcenters.

I just got back. I was there about 15 minutes after open, it sounds like they had already sold out of some of the processors (I'm assuming top end). But when I said I was there for the 3600 they said there were plenty of those.

I purchased:
Ryzen 5 3600
Asrock B450 Itx (they had one mitx 570 in stock, the gigabyte aorus. It might have been worthwhile, but from what I can tell the b450's should be fine and I don't see needing pci-4.0 for a while so I decided to cheap out).
Corsair H100i pro
Inland 1tb nvme ssd
2x8 gb crucial 3200 ram

I have a new case arriving tomorrow and PSU the day after, so unfortunately I won't be able to build until later this week. But I have the core parts ready.

Calling Columbus Micro Center, as that is the closest location to their HQ / warehouse. Seeing if I can reserve over the phone.

No luck, in person, first come, first serve.

Getting a 3700X now and a fancy-ish board (depending on availability) will be OC-ing this chip, cooling TBD.

I haven't gone into the mobo reviews, so how does all 4 dimm slots being populated effect the ram speeds? Officially they only support 2933 with all four populated.

From what I have gathered, it does not suffer like Zen and Zen+ does (on X570).

Because better memory controller on Zen2 and more stringent design reqs on X570.

But, again, safest to wait for a review, unless you want to try it right now for science!

I wonder if I should wait for the 3950X or settle for the 3900X or 3700X. Too many CPUs that are an upgrade from my 1700X. It's hard for me to decide which one I want.

Found the 5700 XT AE on AMD.Com, yeah
So cancelled my "not in stock" 3900x order and ordered the radeon AND the ryzen from AMD.com directly, where all's in stock.

In case anyone wonders, that's the tax applied in France :

Référence du produit: 100-100000023BOX
Nom du produit: Processeur de bureau AMD Ryzen™ 9 3900X
Montant: 443,16 €

Référence du produit: Xbox Game Pass
Nom du produit: Xbox Game Pass for PC
Montant: 0,00 €

Référence du produit: 100-438328
Nom du produit: AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary
Montant: 398,76 €

Référence du produit: Xbox Game Pass
Nom du produit: Xbox Game Pass for PC
Montant: 0,00 €

Sous-total : 841,92 €

Tax: 173,22 €
Total : 1.039,32 €

Now just need a CPU to patch the 470 taichi's BIOS ...
Gonna take a 200GE I think, since I need to modernize my "server" running a X2 250 still.

Decided to buy the 3600x to sidegrade over a 2700x to get a little bit more single thread/gaming performance and limit the cost. I don't find my usage using 8C/16T that often, and oc headroom is too limited for 8C to justify spending more.

I am using 1080ti on 1440p 144hz monitor, reusing my 4 x 16GB hynix dual rank ram on c6h. Can clock at 3000 14-14-16-34-2t at 1.47v on 2700x, let's see if it can do better on the 3600x.

TPU's review shows no meaningful performance difference between X470 and X570 boards with Ryzen 3000. That's good news, and an impressive dedication to backwards compatibility. Between the cheaper price and passive no-fan operation, I expect the X470 (and B450) boards to continue to be a popular option for builders.

I'm not surprised. Some older boards are going to have UEFI problems for a bit until the OEMs can get around to updating to AGESA 1.0.0.3AB. But it's good to see that at least one old MSI board runs the chips okay on day 1.

No luck, in person, first come, first serve.

Sorry you didn't get a 3900x. They sold out fast.

3700x looks stronger than expected, though. A lot of reviewers were basically gushing over how it's within 5% of a 9900k in games.

I haven't gone into the mobo reviews, so how does all 4 dimm slots being populated effect the ram speeds? Officially they only support 2933 with all four populated.

It can, yes. We need more info but there were some indicators that 2x32GB could be run at DDR4-3333 (if the DIMMs were inherently capable of such speeds), so 4x16 should be similar assuming it's a T-topology board. If it's a daisy chain board then you'd be better off with 2x32GB (Samsung M-die).

Can clock at 3000 14-14-16-34-2t at 1.47v on 2700x, let's see if it can do better on the 3600x.

That's really good for 4x16GB on Pinnacle Ridge! You might want to report your results to @StinkyPinky once you have it up and running.

Getting on the bandwagon as well.

Ordered:
X470 Taichi;
2x16 3200MT/s Crucial Ballistix (E-die);
A-Data 1tb SX8200 Pro.
(as per TPU and some others the perfomance is essentialy the same between X470 and X570, plus the Ryzen 3000 doesn't seem to be so memory dependent as the previous ones, I don't really need PCI4 or the chipset fan either).

Will order a 3900X hopefully in couple of weeks time. Meanwhile I'll slap my 1700 into it and do the fresh Windows install and ofcourse install the new BIOS.

Will keep:
PSU 650W gold Cheiftec;
2TB WD Black;
Fractal R5 case;
Kraken X61 CPU cooler;
Sapphire Pulse Vega 56

I hope we see more B350/B450/X370/X470 builders in here. Not only are you getting good value, but hopefully you all may put more pressure on the mobo OEMs to keep up that UEFI support. Squeeky wheels and all that.

Make some noise if they are not taking care of your needs. You are just as important as the x570 buyers.

I have X370, B350, and X470 boards and happen to be on vacation starting Tuesday.

I am considering just buying a 3600 to play with, since the top end SKUs appear to be sold out.

I have an empty x370 Taichi. Will try it i there for grins, if no post, will try x470 Taichi, even though only 3800x and 3700x and 3600x are listed in the new bios.

So if I ever get a 3900x (will only pay $499) I will try in X370 and X470. Also, I have 3600 cl15 and 3200 cl14 both bdie to test "stuff" And I can even do a 32 gig 4 stick test !

Pretty sure it won't post in the X370 Taichi, but I could be wrong. Surprised X470 Taichi won't support the 3900x yet though?

None of my boards have updated BIOSes available yet. Ranges from AGESA 1.0.0.1 to 1.0.0.2.

So I guess I'll wait and see while I look to acquire a 3900X.
