OK, got my second 3900x. Its in a x470 Taichi, but it runs quite a bit slower than the same chip in my ASUS x470 prime PRO.6500 and 6300 on the two cinebench20 runs. but it runs 10c cooler. Its a bios thing ?

BTW, @VirtualLarry , the x370 Taichi board ? You were right, not even a post. Now I have to get like a Ryzen1200 just to boot it If you have any DIRT CHEAP AM4 chips, let me know in a PM how much you want.

Yeah, I was in that situation before, when the Ryzen APUs came out, and I needed to flash some A320 and B350 boards with early BIOSes. Thankfully, at that time, I had a Ryzen 3 1200 CPU on me to flash with. But of the two that I knew that I had, I've sold both of them. I contemplated buying another one, for flashing duty, when they were marked down to $59.99 FS @ Newegg a few days ago, before 3rd-Gen came out, but they raised price on all but the Ryzen R5 1600 to list. If you wanted to drop $104.99 on one of those, you could probably resell it for nearly what you paid for it, and maybe keep the 95W Wraith Spire V1 copper-cored stock heatsink out of it, and just sell on the CPU.

I already have 3 of the ones with heatpipes ! One came with my 2700 (now sold) and 2 more this week with my 3900x's. Its not worth selling due to the shipping ! The only thing they fit in, is the $20 large box for USPS, and who wants to pay $40 for a heatsink ? Anyway, I PM'ed a guy in FS/FT asking for a deal on his 1200, as he wants $60, and you can get it with a heatsink for $70 !

Look on the FS/FT forums here or [H] -- I'm sure you can find someone willing to sell one for cheap. $60 seems like wayyy to much for a 1200, heh.

Prepare for a price increase
Memory vendors are evil creatures
Yes, I think you're right.

The release of the Ryzen's has already caused a run on G.Skill Flare X. Newegg had the 3200CL14 B-die kits on a 7-day sale for $120 but it sold out in a day or so (and they removed the one I had in my cart. )

Meanwhile and possibly much worse, is this little trade dispute and its affect on Samsung and Hynix: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019...ade-feud-erupts-between-japan-and-south-korea

So, if you need memory for your Ryzen 3000's...

Yeah, understandable however history has proven they’ll price them to ludicrous levels.
I totally understand more people want this kits so prices go up but new production never appears to arrive and we end up with one memory that works mostly good for $120 and another memory that works great (as in you can use 4 sticks) then that one suddenly costs $300 for the same damn kit.

Well, I think its $170 now, regular 400 ????

So not too bad. It was way more back when I loded up. I have 3200 or faster bdie coming out my ears now. I think it was $250-270 when I got it.

Anyone been able to test how a x570 handles all four dimm slots populated? I know what the official spec is but am more interested in the "real world" speeds.

To my very brief research appears only Asus supports 4 16GB sticks. Most was at 2933 however there was a 3200 kit in there.

Can anybody with the 3700X give an estimation of how the temperatures are compared to previous processors they've had in their systems? The power efficency and temperature numbers on the few sites that have test it are all over the place and I feel like I can't trust any of them.

I'm planning to build in an SFF PC, and need to know how the temperatures on the 3700X is -- at least compared to stuff like the 8700K, 7700K and 6700K, as my experience with the latter three have been less than positive. So wondering if I should go with the 3700X or 3600.

Welcome to the forums. If you have an SFF, what are you using it for ? seems like a 3600, maybe even undervolted and underclocked would suit you best (with a big aftermarket heatsink to keep it quiet)

You could get 6 cores/12 threads running under 50 watts and still probably 3.5 ghz, maybe more.

Thank you!

Shouldn't need to underclock -- that would be pretty unacceptable for what's already supposed to be a 65W TDP CPU and has moderate clocks as they are. Especially considering the fact that modern 95W TDP Intel chips are ordinary in the SFF builds I have. Undervolting is definitely something I'll try to pursue (although my personal experience with undervolting of any CPU I've ever had has been overwhelmingly negative).

I've previously built in the NCASE M1 (I had the 7700K). Now planning to build in the Loque Ghost S1, with L12S being the CPU cooler -- fan noise and temps (75C at max) is really important for me. I don't see how 3600 would ever be an issue in my build, but need to be 100% sure about it and 3700X' thermal attributes before making a purchase. So far the information out there is hard to pointify.

Good news for those building on a budget with 3600 and wanting better memory performance. Apparently cheap Crucial (Micron E-die) memory is easily hitting 3600+ on Ryzen 3000 series IMCs with a 1 button OC. This basically gets you within 1ns of the "sweet spot" latency touted by AMD... and at $68 or less for 16GB (2x8GB) of DDR4-3000 CL15/DDR4-3200 CL16 this type of memory is a great value.

Example of how cheap this RAM is ($30/8GB...):

Sweet! Those look perfect for the smaller 3600 build I'm wanting to do, once the current build is finished and stable. Haven't decided if it'll be a Mini-ITX build, or use the smallest dual-chambered ATX cube case I can find.

Yup, the QVL for the X570 Strix-E lists some 3600 4x16GB kits. Guess I'll find out Tuesday how well the x570 aorus master handles a 64GB 3200 CL16 LPX kit...

Call me out once you do, I’d love an upgrade path to 64GB

I know you are newish use @ then my user name to let me know what you’ve found.

Thank you

LOL $400... Ouch! Those scalpers can sure make $170 look good, can't they?
After Newegg proper ran out at $120 this morning, I checked and a newegg marketplace vendor had them at ~146. I didn't notice which vendor it was, but the $170 seller is "ecmallonline".
Anyway, 41% price increase in one day... that escalated quickly!

That same kit was on ebay the other day for $129.99, sold by Newegg. I ordered one, and they canceled it stating that my address was invalid.

Almost certainly.

You might be able to flash with Bristol Ridge. The new UEFI may not support the chip though, so post-flash it won't boot until you put in the 3900x. Sadly Bristol Ridge won't save you much (at least according to eBay).

I bought a Ryzen 1600, and I will install Win 10 32 bit for my game (Dune 2000) and try to sell the dual x5675 Xeons and motherboard that are in there. That 1600 should use way less power and maybe even equal those 24 threads with its 12.

I found this review a few months back and started *back* to buying Crucial memory; I used to buy it way more back in the Socket 370 / Socket A up to Core 2 Duo era.

https://pcper.com/2019/04/crucial-ballistix-sport-lt-ddr4-3200-desktop-memory-review/

I have 2 (2 x 16 GB 3200 kits) for two Zen2 builds, and there is 2 x 8 GB 3200 in the 2200G.

All flavors are usually on sale a couple times a month between Newegg and even the Crucial site.

I think the 3200 is the best deal, is usually a few dollars more than the slowest stuff; 2 x 16 GB was about $126 this past week.

I am going to test the 4 x 16 in the X570 once I get my Scythe Grand Kama Cross in.

Is Ryzen Master working right for the 3000 series? i had to update Ryzen Master for my 3200G and the only way to make it work is to unistall it, reboot, install it, and it will work until the next reboot, after that "driver is not installed". So is kinda broken for me, so bad because i really wanted to test the OC limits on IGP, i got to 1700mhz too easily.

Seemed to to work for the 3600 testing this morning, but it was installed after a fresh Win 10 install.
