I had a minor epiphany. My Ryzen R5 3600, on a 95W stock Wraith Spire V1 (copper-cored) from a Ryzen R5 1600 CPU, idles (7-8% usage, on Skype) @ 65C. Seems... kinda high?
I know that I didn't mount it wrongly, or at least, I don't think so, because all four mounting screws bottomed out on the bracket. Maybe I didn't tweak them down in the right order, and the heatspreader got dented/shifted?
OR, maybe, the copper-cored heatsink, which supposedly uses a vapor chamber, according to another post on here, LEAKED.
When I took it out of the package, there was a discoloration around half of the copper core, as well as a streak leading into the factory thermal paste. Looked a bit like water/liquid damage.
A friend of mine who is from an HVAC background, said that vapor chambers often have a liquid. So possibly, mine leaked?
That might explain the poor temps, and high idle, if it's not transferring the heat from the copper slug to the Aluminum fins properly.
Anyways, I've got a Gammaxx 400 (actually, a couple) in storage, have to dig them out and install one of those, supposedly to be fairly highly-rated for the 3600 CPU.
