Sooo... the difference between my ex 4650G and the new 5700G are really good. And bad, also
The good part is ... well ... performance. I get 30-50% more fps in World of Warships that I play regularly. The PC seems a bit faster even though it was already plenty fast with 3 M2 I got inside my case. It is snappier. My work software (Studio One DAW) is really liking the extra cores and the better IPC and cache, there I can definitely feel them put to use. Aaaand there starts the bad part. Unfortunately my
fanless case was perfect with 4650G but with this one, not so much. It heats up to 90 degrees C (194 F) when playing and I don't quite feel confortable like that. It can't disipate heat fast enough. On the sticker they say the case can accept up to 87W CPU, but better stick with 65W. And in theory 5700G is a 65W CPU, in practice I saw spikes of 117W displayed on Open Hardware Monitor. Are there problems to worry in the future or is it ok to let it be like that? How's that gonna affect my M2's?
