Got my 3200 hynix ram (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) to boot full speed on the Taichi with the newest BIOS. I saw a screenshot that someone else posted that it booted and was reporting a tRC of 75, so I loaded the XMP profile, changed tRC to 75 and it's up and running. No obvious issues yet although I haven't done a full set of tests. I'm also set at 2T at the moment but I tried both and didn't see any differences.

Let us know when you get to those tests and stuff. I know you'll see a difference in 2T vs 1T. I'm probably going to end up dropping another 200 or so on some more memory so I can run 32GB's. Either that, or get a bigger M.2.

That's not really the specs on your memory, it is the binning by the manufacturer in MT/s.

I bet you have Samsung E-die rated at 16-18-18-18-38 timings at 3400 / 1.35V, 2T command rate. Which would explain your difficulty getting above 3000.

If you could find out what the actual part number for the DDR4 ICs used on your memory is using Thaiphoon Burner or similar app, people could point you in the right direction.

I'm almost positive he's using these. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231916

Gskill Trident Z 3400 CAS16. Asus X370 pro and a 1700@3.8GHz.

I assumed you were using a Taichi board too, since you replied to me. Either way, give the bios a bit more time to mature. More bios updates for memory compatibility and what not will help you hit those marks. What are your settings for your overclock? SOC voltage increase might help stabilize memory easily.

I am using those should I still post the specs from Thaiphoon Burner?

Knowing the actual DDR4 ICs used on your memory would help determine how optimistic you should be on running your memory at higher speeds.

The manufacturer part number can be identical and yet the actual IC could be Samsung B-die (best for Ryzen), Samsung D/E dies, Hynix, Micron, etc.

Just ordered my new components! Should be here at the end of the week. Going to use my current R9 290 till the graphics cards drop from their stupid price

Quickly checked a few things. First while cold booting has been fine, I have had some failures on reboot. Since I'm pretty busy coming up and soon to be out of town, I'm probably going to set it to 3066 for stability and revisit it in a couple of weeks.

AIDA64 memory stress test ran for 40 minutes with no errors and it looked like it was doing around 1.375v. Memtest86 ran a full cycle with no errors either. I didn't have time for anything more. I noticed that even when I manually set the command rate to 2T, both the BIOS and CPU-Z were showing it as running at 1T.

1700 non-x btw:
Code:
Test Stock 3066 3200

Mread 32365 45268 47123
Mwrite 31976 43476 45061
Mcopy 29430 38749 40345
Mlaten 103.2 78.7 77.4

Do you have all 4 dimm's populated to justify running 2T?

I just found out that ASUS does not cover scratch damage with their warranty. Looks like they do not care for customers who bought their products.
Last time ASUS.

Anyway, board works fine with and R7 1700 is really good.

I think that they just assume that their customers are not "gorillas". I mean, really, would you expect them to cover physical damage, that was the end-user's fault? I wouldn't. Be more careful next time.

if it was him/her scratching it then I totally agree , but would not be the first time i received new hardware were namely a backplate or a heat-sink is scratched*.

PS* most of the time barely visible that it escape QA.

I know the feeling, man. Oh those Amazon pre-orders from February/March . . . hope you don't have it that bad!

I did experience the initial delay with Amazon, but I had canceled. I bought the MSI board and then moved on to the ASRock with the 1800X bundled. Long road to finally have a great 1700 machine haha

Unless it was shipped scratched I can't say I disagree with ASUS there... boards should be handled with great care. Accidents happen, but scratches after shipping are going to be the fault of the end user.

No, just testing different settings and 2T supposedly being more stable.

Back on socket 939, it was more beneficial to run 2T timings only when all 4 DIMM's were populated for stability. We were talking about having to keep the clock ratios at DDR400, and it was controlled by the chipset and not the CPU itself. 2T CAN be more stable, but at a huge performance hit. Not sure if this is the case for Ryzen, as most people won't need to run 2T unless all the DIMM's are populated.
Have you tried running the A-XMP profiles for your memory on your board? Have you tried increasing your SOC voltage to get it stable? What DIMM voltages are you running as well? Need to see your settings to be able to help you further.

You are a joke man. I opened a box and MB was scratched.

Of course I did it and blame ASUS then/s... sure thats how you do it. Please have some respect to other people
