Will do once my digital camera charges up. The camera in my iPhone 7 appears to be dead. All I get is a black screen. Time to cash in on my Apple Care.

Have you tried powering on and off? I had the same happen on a 6s and a reboot fixed it. Might be worth a shot before having to have your device replaced.

(It might actually be broken, but I'm stubborn thorough about those kind of things and spent hours troubleshooting the C6H when it bricked)

You da man. Camera is once again working. I'll take some pics and post this evening.

Is cheap? Da. CPU is cold with solution? Da.

R7 1800X @ 4GHz with el-cheapo B350 motherboard:

I have no idea about long-term stability or reliability of the cheapest B350 motherboard currently released, but it looks like it should have zero problem running my R7 1700 that is in transit to me. Maybe even with an OC!

I cancelled my Cooler Master bracket order for a couple reasons:

1. taking forever
2. It looks like it would mount the cooler with the fan pointing up/down rather than toward the rear exhaust fan :|

By cancelled I mean e-mailed them to cancel, hopefully they will eventually respond.

I take it you don't have a top mounted fan or two in your case?

If you don't, would it be worth it to you to use this as an excuse to upgrade your case?

This RAM works at 14-14-14-14-34/3200 with no problems on my ASUS Prime X370-Pro motherboard. I highly recommend it.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232491

Does this RAM exist in non-RGB form?

Apparently it does, assuming the only difference in the 3200 RAM is the RGB.

Query: Just looking at the G.Skill 3200 speed RAM, they have 14, 15 and 16 CL versions. The CL 15 version will just default to CL 16, correct? So the only real choices are 14 and 16 CL?

EDIT:

They have 16-18-18-38 2x8 GB for $120.
15-15-15-35 2x8 GB for $145.
14-14-14-34 2x8 GB for $155.

Say hello to my little friend:

Will permanently house a R7 1700 whenever that gets here. I'll drop my R7 1800X in there later tonight and see what the cheapest (as of March 2017) B350 motherboard is capable of. I've got three different sets of DDR4 from 2400-3400 so I'm expecting I'll get something to work with overclocking.
Hello little friend Talk about bare minimum motherboard!! Does that thing even run a Ryzen 7 CPU?

I think they are just really backed up because of having lots of customers with the Hyper 212 evo's and T4's.Its understandable but would be nice just to have gotten a email saying something like hey we received you request for a bracket and were working on it..

Yes, with OC to 4GHz no less:

Probably a bad idea to run it at that frequency for 24/7 usage, but hey, it'll do just fine for my R7 1700 I have en route.
Very nice indeed !! I see your running 16gb of what looks to be 2400? Are they 8gb x 2? Can B350 motherboards even run 4 sticks of DDR4?I mean I see 4 slots on most B350 motherboards minus yours only having 2 slots. My el cheapo B350 motherboard will be here Wed. after noon, but I don't have a CPU to try it out with because I sent it back to Newegg for a replacement and god only knows when they will ship out another.. Is your Cpu Overclocked running all cores at 4.0ghz or is that Stock with 4.0Ghz turbo?

Yes, they are 2x8GB of DDR4-2400 CL15 G.Skill Ripjaws V run at auto-XMP on the MSI board. The CPU was running at 40x multiplier all-core turbo on auto voltage (VID 1.368V). Stock voltage at 1800X stock clocks had a VID closer to 1.21V.

I have no idea if other B350 motherboards support 4x8GB, but I should find out either late this week or early next once my Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 gets here. That's the B350 board with the ALC1220 audio codec I chose to run as my main rig's replacement for the bricked C6H. I suspect it should run 4x8GB @ 2400 CL15 just fine. I'm going to hold off on memory tweaking until things stabilize (prob 1-2 months, or maybe less) and grab a sweet set of 2x16GB DDR4-3200+ then rather than fiddle with it now (I can live with the slightly reduced performance for the time being).

Well I was just asking because I have been visiting the Gigabyte and Asrock support pages and forums and checking through the Ram compatibility pages and every one of the compatible Dimms show only up to 2 sticks being supported. That makes me think if more then 2 could damage or even kill the memory controller on the CPU's!!

Built my budget ryzen (1440P resolution) rig for my main desktop / workstation. Moved the 4790K to the HTPC VR rig. I don't really care much about overclocking and want a stable rig.

Boo for Coolermaster though, they say the Hyper T4 is compatible out of the box with the AM4, well - it does snap in but the orientation of the HSF goes towards the memory chips (can only clock it that way) - vertical instead of horizontal.

Parts List
Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 - BIOS F6d
Ryzen 1700x
Corsair H110i (AIO cooler - this one fits out of the box with AM4)
Corsair C70 Vengeance Case
Corsair RM650i (replaced the TX650w Power Supply in this pic)
GeForce GTX1070 FE
Patriot 32GB Dual Channel Kit ( 2x16 GB DDR4 - PC4-22400 - #PVE432G280C6KGY)

Notes
  • I settled on the Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 as the price is great, it has a Realtek ALC1220 Codec (and still has Optical Out in the I/O header - most boards got rid of them) and doesn't have useless legacy stuff like PCI slots. It also has USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports on the back (lot of the budget boards only have Gen 1). I wish the boards would get rid of the PS2 keyboard / mouse port also and use the space saved for another USB port on the back instead of a header on the board (there are three internal headers, one USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0)

  • Purchased the Patriot Ram as it's supposed to go up to 2800 MHZ (still 1.2 volts). The 16GB sticks are dual rank which aren't ideal. I'm expecting at most, 2400 MHZ (AMD says Ryzen officially supports 2400 MHZ on Dual Channel Mode - 2 Dual Rank DIMMS).
Current Problems
Per AMD, the Ryzen memory controller is rated to run 2 - Dual Rank memory chips up to 2400 MHZ - the XMP profile on the board don't work properly but putting in manual timings worked along with bumping the voltage up a bit (from 1.2 to 1.33 volts). Got the memory to 2666 MHZ by doing the following.

1) Enabled XMP
2) Set Memory Multiplier to 26
3) Changed Timing on Memory Channel A to "15-17-17-34"
4) Changed Memory Voltage from 1.2v to 1.33 volts
5) Disabled XMP
6) Saved Settings
7) Restarted

As for the built in Realtek Gigabit LAN controller, able to get it to peak at 112 Megabytes / Second
( enabled 4K jumbo packets on both the NIC and the NAS )

They're just testing the most popular configurations IMO. Considering almost all the boards have 4 DIMMs and a lot of users are using 4 DIMMs (albeit at low clockspeeds) I'm willing to bet support for 4 DIMM configurations will get better over time.

In the meantime if I have to keep it at 2133 or switch to 2 DIMMs of higher speed memory, that's okay with me. I couldn't get 4x8GB of the G.Skill DDR4-2400 CL15 to work with my Skylake board either, at least not initially.

What do you guys think about the prices of these higher DDR4 Dimms? Do you think we will be able to buy 3600 for $100 next year, or are prices going to stay about the same?

I curretenly have 4 x 4gb Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400 in my Asus Z170s Sabertooth motherboard using it with a Skylake i3 6300. Works perfectly in this system, so I was hoping to reuse them in my Ryzen Build. My OCD likes seeing all 4 of the ram slots all filled up.Dont know how I'm gonna take only being able to use 2 sticks for a total of 8gb's. Maybe I should invest in some new memory for just this build.

Have you tried booting up with just one stick, enabling XMP, setting the memory multiplier to 21 explicitly, memory voltage to 1.35, timings for channel A and B to what the SPD says (for 2133 MHz), saving the BIOS settings, putting the rest of your memory chips in then booting the system up?

AMD says 4 single rank DIMMS are officially supported up to 2133, but 4 dual rank DIMMS only at 1866.

I love excuses to upgrade stuff ... unfortunately I already used a similar excuse to buy a new case last year for Skylake I also happened to screw myself over by going mATX, which seems ... sparse at the moment in AM4 land.

I have the airflow all perfectly set up for silence though, so I think I'd rather just switch coolers. The 212+ is apparently long in the tooth anyway.

Is that a TX650 Corsair I spy? I built that in a Core 2 Duo 8400 system back when it was new. Still running strong in the i7-875K system I sold to a friend!

Why would I need to set the Voltage to 1.35v when it runs fine at 2400 at.1.20v,which it is rated to run at. Heck it can even run 2666- 2933 without changing voltages.not that I have or ever would run at those speeds as rock solid stability is all I want and need.I just know from Reviews and the brands forums posts.

Hopefully, your MOBO likes your memory. The 2x16GB chips (Dual Rank) I'm running from Patriot is rated up to 2800 MHZ @ 1.2v (16-18-18-36) - but I can't get the board to post at 2666 MHz if the memory voltage ain't above 1.3 volts (from 1.2).

My RAM at 2400 MHz with manually set timings work at 1.2 volts (Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3) - your mileage may vary depending on the BIOS / BOARD you got.

So far, the memory at 2666's been stable, passed MemTest86 along with Windows Memory Diag without issues along with gaming sessions.
