My build is complete now I just have to wait for an improved bios to get the memory off 2133. Corsair insists that the Ram is Ryzen compatible and an improved bios is needed to get it running at it advertised specs. So far I am happy with what i am seeing. As soon as I have a bios that I have more confidence in I may play with overclocking it. Waiting on a Fury card my son is shipping me to do a Frankenstein Crossfire with my Fury X. Here are a few snaps taken during the build and the final setup on its new desk. oh and on a side note. Installing Win 10 on the m.2 960 evo was stupid fast something like 5-7 minutes to the login screen. I swear to god.

google "how to tell if ram is single or dual rank" and read the first entry
Are you talking about looking at the serial number under the heat spreader? I already saw that, but that doesn't do me any good, if I am trying to buy single rank samsung die b ram. It also seems to change by manufacturer, and likely with time as well.

Depends on manufacturer , the only one so far that I can find that has model numbers specific for ranks is kingston. You can search for it on their website and they will state in their specification pdf if it is R1 or R2. For example : http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX426C16FR2_8.pdf
The rest so far you have no guarantee , corsair basically the version number but those are not always listed. As for samsung B-die not seen anyone specific stating this.

I dont think its a bug, I think its buyers that have the items in there carts which causes it to show in stock but soon as you click to add to card it shows OOS. Same thing happened to me yesterday when I try to snag a Asrock X370 Fatal1ty Professional Gaming mobo. Thought I'd try to be slick and buy a second backup board, but it was a no go.

New BIOS for the Prime X370 Pro:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/PRIME_X370-PRO/PRIME-X370-PRO-ASUS-0511.zip

Hasn't propagated to all the Asus support pages yet. Apparently, this is the change log:
PRIME X370-PRO BIOS 0511
1.Improve system performance.
2.Make CPU temperature more precise.

Applied BIOS 0511 without issue in BIOS EZFlash and restored to previous settings for DDR, all seems to be fine.
  • My OCZ RD400 NVMe was failing to detect on 100% of reboots, required cold boot before. On BIOS 0511 it is so far detecting on 100% of restart. Great!
  • My F4-3200C16D-16GTZB has no change. Posting at 16-18-18-35 1.35v @ 2933 fine still. Failed to post at 3200. Happy for now.
  • Seems to post and respond faster, more reliably. Merely perception though.

think i might be the only one who picked the MSI pro... but there's a BIOS for that dated 3-8:

PRO CARBON BIOSES

"improved system stability" ...i haven't checked but I think the board that finally arrived last week may already have this BIOS on there. slim chance given the shipment shortage, but I guess it's possible.

I'm curious what is everyone's Ryzen base clock and their SKU...

Mine is 3692.52 on 1800X @ 1.24V. That is all cores no XFR... (Using latest CPU-Z).

So... the Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 definitely needs some BIOS work. I cannot get any dual-rank sticks above 2400MHz on it, and it seems to run it at 2T with no option to change it (as of F5 BIOS).

Also, voltage on Auto for a 40x multiplier did not work. I had to manually add offset above my previously established 1.368V VID achieved on the MSI B350M Gaming Pro. My guess is some droop on the voltage, but the BIOS has few options related to OC and seems... primitive.

Other than that... pros for the board:
Only B350 board with ALC1220 audio
Boot time when you don't change settings is relatively speedy
LED lighting can actually be programmed in BIOS... surprisingly. Lots of options.

Of my experiences with the ASUS C6H, MSI B350M Gaming Pro, and Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3, I'd have to say the clear winner for ease of changing things in BIOS and things "just working" was the MSI. Their BIOS was easy to navigate and overclocking to 4GHz was as simple as changing ONE setting - the multiplier. Which is actually kind of ironic considering it's the cheapest (and cheapest built) B350 motherboard...

Now for a cooler review. I bought a Thermaltake Contac Silent 12 CPU cooler out of curiosity to see if a low-end AM4-advertised cooler using the clip-mount was worth the $24.99 price of admission.

I'd say it's tolerable, if you run at stock. I'd get temps maxing out around 58C benchmarking my 1800X. Throw anything north of 1.4V at it and you hit its limits, however. I was hitting 79C with a 25C ambient at 4.05GHz.

Clip mounting still sucks as much as I remember it does. Removing it is a pain as well.

tl;dr save your pennies for a nicer cooler if you want to OC on air.

Where can you find out if it's single or dual though? It's not in any specs, or most reviews, and that's assuming you can find a review.

Its hard to dig up, what ive been able to learn is the faster Gskill tridentz are samsung chips, as are the faster corsair lpx/dominators are also samsung chips. Basically anything over 3400-3600 seems to be samsung b die's. And most 8GB dimms and smaller are single rank, AFAIK there are no 16gb dimms that are single rank though so all 32GB kits are dual rank(except obviously the 4x8GB ones)

Im likely going with the Corsair LPX 16GB 3600(2x8GB) kit. Mainly because im also likely going with the Asus prime 370 board and this corsair kit is the only 2x8GB kit on the QVL that is guranteed to work at 3200mhz. And im hoping in time it will hit the rated 3600 speed.

It won't (yet). There's no 3600 selection for memory speed and you can't change BCLK on Prime X370-Pro.

I know, thats why im piecing this build together slowly over coming months to let the bios issues get sorted out. Im hoping the supposed microcode update coming next month takes care of alot of this headaches.

Unless my ageing x58 system takes a dump on me i wont build till summer.

Hearing of all the new BIOS updates for the new AGESA code has me all like: Must be nice...

Me waiting for MSI's first new X370 Titanium BIOS release... (Stuck on Stock BIOS).

At least it hasn't needed a critical update, unlike the self-bricking Crosshair VI Hero.

Looks like the first of G.Skill's new Flare X 3200 memory validated at 14-14-14-14-34-1T at 1.35V just dropped on Newegg:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232530

Should be single rank Samsung B-die. I ordered a pair and will report back how it goes.

In the worst case it will likely beat all my other 8GB sticks of DDR4-2400 thru DDR4-3400 which are dual-rank, validated for Intel platforms at 2T...

I was talking to gskill support on newegg, and he told me the TridentZ 4000MHz kit I was looking at was Samsung single rank.

That new flare 3200 is $183, so I might as well spend $195, after ebay coupon, for 4000MHz.

I need to find some cheap 16GB DDR4 since Amazon is taking forever.

EDIT: Amazon has confirmed my shipping date.
