OK, tentative build list, please let me know if anything would be better (except the case, I like that, and I already ordered the Corsair H100i)
Cooling: Corsair H100i water

I have the same cooler that I'll be switching from my i7 5820K to Ryzen 1700. If I would suggest one thing to change it would be to order a set of NF-A14 iPPC-3000 fans to replace the crappy stock ones. On paper, they are louder but have a much smoother, deeper, note that I find more pleasing and easier to drown out/ignore. On top of that, they have greater static pressure that lets them cool better at lower speeds. Max temps dropped by ~5* when I installed these with a homemade gasket in pull to get the most air over the fins as possible.

This system is mostly for working at home. I do bioinformatics programming, so priority on high threadcount, lots of storage, and low power/quiet. I'm reusing the graphics and monitor, eventually those will get replaced with FreeSync supporting parts. Building in a few weeks... any suggestions greatly appreciated.

CPU: Ryzen 1700 w/ stock cooler
RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2666+* (I'd like 1.2V to keep the power down)
MoBo: MiniITX X370 (Biostar, or someone else if they're available at the end of the month)
SSD: Samsung 950 Evo 500GB M.2 (PCIe x4), and Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB (SATA), and Muskin 1TB (SATA)
Video Card: Radeon HD 7750
PSU: Corsair SF450
OS: Dual booting Ubuntu and Win10

*Just going through the thread now. Has anyone found 2x16GB single single-rank dimms, am I going to be stuck at 2400?

We dont know the biostar itx mb but you have to research it and wait if you want to be safe. You can surely find ram at 32gb that does 2666 or even higher but have to factor in cost then vs benefit.
With your needs i would simply go for the cheaper variant and not gun for more than 2400.
An 1700 non oc is btw insanely efficient vs the total power. And dirt cheap for the power also. So you are pretty lucky for your needs.

The H100 I just got from Corsair directly, says it comes with the AM4 bracket. I don't even have a motherboard, or the kit to check. crap.

Here is what I just ordered: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-series-h100i-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler $100

I had the same worry, but it seems the threaded loops are compatible with the AM4 mounts that come on the MB.

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/am4-amd-retention-bracket-kit-for-hydro-series-coolers

If you have CORSAIR Coolers: H60, H110i (H110i GT), H100i, the cooler is compatible with the existing AMD bracket out of the box. The AMD bracket for these coolers can be ordered here.

H100i V1 should work with AM3 & AM4 clips... And the H100i V1 is listed as being AM4 compatible out of the box. You don't have anything to worry about, your cooler should mount fine to the stock AM4 clips.

GSKILL announced the Flare X with 4x16GB at 3200 CL14 at 1.35V. With just 2 modules you should be able to find RAM that clocks.
What the mobo will support and what are the max clocks you could get at 1.2V,no clue as the memory support is yet to mature.

im using ryzen master for temp testing atm, is there anything better that will give a break down per core? real temp and core temp dont seem to support it yet.

The latest AIDA64 Beta claims to be reading accurate temps but haven't seen reports from users yet.
"This AIDA64 build also implements CPU core diode temperature measurement and CPU package power draw measurement on Ryzen."
https://forums.aida64.com/topic/3768-aida64-compatibility-with-amd-ryzen-processors/

There are some interesting bits in that post: L2 and L3 readings not accurate but they still believe that the memory latency reading is accurate.

"The list of Turbo and XFR PStates are invisible on Ryzen, so it's not possible to properly enumerate or track them using a software. When a core of the AMD Ryzen processor goes into idle, the core will report the clockspeed of the P2 power state (e.g. 2200MHz on the Ryzen 7 1800X) and enter into the core-c1 (CC1) or core-c6 (CC6) sleep state. While the VID remains detectable in these states, the states are power gated and the true frequency is not known to the OS or monitoring utilities. As indicated from the “fine-grained Pstate” commentary released at Ryzen Tech Day, the AMD Ryzen’s processor true frequencies in these modes are significantly lower than reported via the “last known” P2 reading. AMD engineering tells us that V/f changes can be executed at 1ms intervals, indicating that the act of monitoring the states with the resolution necessary to accurately capture this behavior would also prevent cores from entering into the ultra low-power CC1 or CC6 states."

I have a Noctua D15 with AM4 mount comming tomorrow. Its 165mm height, and will have to fit in a node 804 that have a max of 160mm ! lol - but its a tight fit all round. I will probably be the first on this planet to test this combination of am4 D15 and 804. I am really in beta tester mode.

If it's the windowed version you could either remove the window or bend the plexi slightly with a heat gun and some elbow grease? Or you could hope that the plexi is flexible enough for it not to matter

Yeaa. Its the windowed. Good tip with the heat gun mate !
Compared to the asus bios its probably a walk in the park.

So I have everything bar two pigtail cables to connect the m.2 wifi module on my Crosshair to the external antennae. Annoyingly these cables will prevent me from completing my build as "armor" on the motherboard has to be removed to get access to the wifi module, and the "armor" can only be removed from the underside of the motherboard meaning that if I do build I will have to disassemble everything just to get access again.

Damn you Asus! Damn you and your unfriendly design to hell!

Wow. That's pretty damn stupid. Way to go Asus. Also: do they actually not include WiFi antenna cables in the box?

No, the motherboard is sold as wi-fi ready. It doesn't include the wi-fi card. Had to order a separate card, antennae and cables.

I just can't understand why they would make it all so inaccessible if they intend for the end user to be able to add this in. It's like putting "armor" over your PCI express slots. At least put the screws on the front!

Yeah, that's beyond stupid. Don't they have "hatches" in the armor for m.2 storage? Why not do the same for m.2 WiFi? It can't be that hard ...
