Asrock dropped a new BIOS today for every AM4 board. That makes 4 new BIOS in 2 weeks. This is why I love Asrock. They crank out fixes and feature enhancements with their BIOS.

Found out my bonus come in 2 weeks. Guess who is swapping his 2500k for a Ryzen? YUSSSS!

More competition for Taichi1!?! sigh.

Hey,I heard the crosshair is really good. It doesn't randomly brick or anything!

Sweet! Maybe this will help out my 4.05Ghz heavy load stability at stock voltage

I have a Noctua D15 with AM4 mount comming tomorrow. Its 165mm height, and will have to fit in a node 804 that have a max of 160mm !

The D15S I got was 5mm less tall (I have the same clearance in my case). Some observations:
1) The D15S is likely shorter due to not having the second fan (the D15, fanless, is also 160mm tall)
2) The cooling difference between two fans and one fan is pretty small.
3) The case I have (Solo One -- it's ancient), although it claimed to have only 160mm, clearly had more. I had a 158.5mm cooler in there previously, and there was easily a cm and a half of additional clearance.
4) The D15S keeps an extra pcie slot clear...
5) although that doesn't matter, because plugging in a card in that slot takes my pcie x4 slot down from x2 (with the other pcie slots used) to x1
6) I wonder if these coolers will work for a Naples 16 core chip.... :]

You guys are lucky. Mine is still in the mail.

I backordered the tiachi on the 2nd.

The first time I saw it, it was for order. Then it immediately went out of stock, and then a backorder of 1-10 days appeared. Then that was gone, and another backorder of 1-15 days popped up. I was one of the first to snag a 1-15 day backorder, so I assume they are getting a shipment in around the 17th.
I was being a bit hesitant, because I was wanting to wait on the 1600x, but now I am kind of regretting that. 10 more days...

I can't find anywhere to buy the Taichi or even the X370 Fatal1ty (basically same board, costs $50 more). Thought I knew where to get them today but . . . eh, no luck. Grr.

great... the pro carbon is listed as out of stock again on newegg. slimmest chance ever that mine (a preorder) will ship this week if that's the case.

It's here! No, I'm not hyperventilating at all.

Now, slowly but surely, the kit's coming together. (Yes, the bracket for the Hyper 212 Evo looks out of place.)

Which is good, considering my desktop right now looks like this:

At least it's back up and running, so that I can get some comparative benchmarks. Pushed my Core2Quad 130MHz further just to see how far it could go (without too much effort and with a cobbled-together cooler). 3.65GHz at 1.35V. Crashes under OCCT Linpack, but otherwise stable. Now I'm downloading games to benchmark. So far I've got Doom, BF1, Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Fallout 4. Heck, I haven't even played half of those yet. Oh well.

I'm running my 1800x on an Asus Prime B350 Plus mb I picked up at MicroCenter on Saturday after my Pre-Ordered Asus Crosshair VI failed to ship despite a pre-order since 2-23. I just cancelled the pre-order of the Asus Crosshair on Amazon. I'm content to wait until the supply catches up and the BIOS problems get sorted out. At least the Asus Prime B350 Plus board has me up and running.

It appears that there are real "teething" problems with some of the highest end X370 mbs. Couple that with the apparent limited OCing headroom, especially of the 1800x and I'm perfectly content on keeping this 1800x stock for a couple weeks. My planned custom water cooled build is on hold but the Corsair H110i GT AIO is working just fine on the R7-1800x. I'm keeping it stock so I can learn about it more before I move to a higher end motherboard.

Make sure its no ram making it unstable. Eg try running at 2133 until final or near final oc is reached.
Is 1.375 stable?
As the stilt have shown at 3.7 you have to give it a bit extra notch.

I got my 1800X working stable at 4.1 ghz (hydro h60) before my crosshair decided to brick itself.

C6H is a tank but sadly very unstable bios.

lol i still have a rampage formula in service too!
I'm quite impressed that you recognized it by sight! Well done.

Edit: Looking at this from my PC and not my phone, I see that the name is printed in rather large letters smack-dab in the middle of the board. *facepalm*

I was talking about OCing the C2Q, not the 1700X
I'm still waiting for my motherboard (hopefully shipping this Friday) and RAM (might arrive tomorrow). So for now, I'm squeezing the last few MHz out of the old beater and seeing what it can do before it retires.

If I got the ram on that running at 2133mHz, that has to be a world record. Can't believe anyone ever pushed DDR2 that far. Would probably require copious amounts of LN2.

Don't know about CH6 (didn't research it as much as I never ordered one) but the MSI X370 Titanium has a flashing chip so you can flash the BIOS from a dedicated USB port on the back (conveniently tilted 90 degrees and located next to the BIOS reset button) which functions properly without a CPU, RAM or GPU...

I think that could come in handy, because knowing from experience desoldering tiny 8pin tsop packages and then using my flash programmer and then resoldering said tsop is NOT FUN. You are extra careful with iron/hotair gun temps but you still manage to lift a pad now and then... *Bangs head on desk*

I'm out guys. I'm excited for all of you and I will be watching the builds. I hope the kinks get worked out. I decided to go a different route this time.
