So it looks like through my new connection I am getting a new 1800x, Gigabyte AX370 board, AND a new Vega based graphics card to put together for a system to mess around with. Pretty sure I can't talk a whole lot of details about the Vega card though, but should be interesting if I get a hold of one.

So looks like my friend just dropped this off for me free of charge...

He was going to get it to me sooner, but wanted to get me a Vega card as well with it. He still waiting on the Vega for me Said looks like it'll be in next week for me to have some fun with.

Not really. This is the second time he's hooked me up. Hoping a vega card comes through to play with. If not, oh well. What he already gave me was nice enough.

I was referencing the Vega part! I have a Ryzen 1800X with Gaming 3 already, and a Gaming K7 en route. Your Gaming 5 should be pretty much the same thing as the K7 minus a few bells and whistles.

I know you were talking about the Vega part. So was I. My contact is in Rome next week for an event, and will fly back to the main HQ to pick up some vega samples. They are stating they are going to get me one of them once done.

OK, Taichi estimated delivery next Wed. So the 1800x will have a new home, and hopefully 4.1 ghz. The old motherboard (AB350 Pro4)will get the below applied, and hopefully will do at least 3.9 (1700x)

Let us know what RAM speed you can reach.
I have a kit of the same RAM, and 2 of the same AB350 Pro 4 boards.
In one of my B350 Pro4, it does 2667. In the other, 2400

Are you not on the kit AMD listed on its "Gaming tip" page? F4-3200C16D-16GTZx?

That means AMD listed a hynix ram as a Samsung B. I have also read somewhere that the Corsair V5.x that AMD recommended was also hynix. what are they doing?

That is indeed the case.
To be honest, however, I don't think AMD themselves knew it

Man, why don't I have friends like this?
The best I ever got was a handshake, and then they said "Nice going!".

Didn't say there was no difference. I said the difference was minimal in most cases which it is. Faster memory will not make a perceived difference except in benchmark graphs. The widest delta in framerates in the gaming 1080 tests was 12 fps with 3-4 others registering in the 9s out of 17 games tested. I seriously doubt anyone will be to perceive the difference between fps 72 vs 81. My point wasn't to say there is no difference which I never did but that the impact is pretty minimal to the point of being essentially insignificant in everyday use. Considering a roughly 30% frequency boost will only net you a single digit percentage performance gain I would have to say again faster will not make a perceived difference except in benchmark graphs and only in a very small percentage of those.

I agree that the 5.5% performance improvement in 1080p overall is insignificant and does not make a difference in real life experience (it is like a 250 MHz increase). But if you play Fallout 4, Far Cry Primal or Total War: Warhammer or similar you might well fell the difference.

Well, I got an Asus Crosshair VI today and I'm pleased. I updated the BIOS to 1002 from the stock 9.02 without a glitch. My Memory Is TridentZ DDR4-3200 CL16 so right now the fastest bootable ram is 2400. I ordered the GSkill Flame 3200 CL 14 which, per reviews already works at 3200 speed. I'll find out next week.

Despite the BIOS debacle the Asus C6H appears to be a feature rich mb. My EK AM4 EVO cpu block (new one from EK) attached perfectly to the stock backplate.
I enabled the default 4.0 OC setting for my 1800x and it worked great. The ram speed is holding it back from "spreading it's wings" but I'm still pleased. I'll keep it at default settings for right now. The 2 RX480s in CF work GREAT in this mb.

My ram already does 3200 on the Pro4. I am sure the Taichi will do the same

2.0 (non-beta) BIOS released for the asrock killer sli a/c.

1.Update AGESA code. (Enhance for Ryzen 5)
2.Precision Boost - Adjusts clock speeds in 25MHz increments in BIOS setup.

Installing shortly, but won't have time to test memory until later.

New BIOS for Asus Prime X370-Pro as well!

PRIME X370-PRO BIOS 0515
1.Improve system stability.
2.Enhance memory compatibility
3.Improve CPU temperature monitor function

Thankfully it's dated 3/31!

Edit: Nothing really changed for me. My TridentZ still won't post at 3200, only 2933.

Same here but my trident Z RAM only goes to 2400.

Is this a board difference, or a CPU difference?
Call me paranoid, but I'm starting to suspect that if you've got a CPU that doesn't like OC'd memory, that's the way things are likely to stay.

[I have QSV sticks that post fine, and don't survive load, I have no idea where this paranoia comes from....]

Most likely the memory, and I don;t think its OC'd. Most here have PC 3000 ram or 3200 that I have seen, but many motherboards only get to that speed with the "correct" ram, usually samsung-b chip ram, single sided (I think thats the correct term)

My G.Skill FlareX 3200 is on the QVL for the Gigabyte Gaming 3 (F5 BIOS), but given that the RAM was released after the board/latest BIOS and the fact that it isn't stable on it at any speed above 2400... I'm going with BIOS being the issue. Because it works 100% on 1-click A-XMP on my MSI motherboard.

I'll have to see how it does on the ASRock X370 Taichi and the Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K7.
