Hey guys.
Has anybody trying deploying a windows installation image of windows 10 1703 b15063 "creators update" from one Ryzen PC to another Ryzen PC?
I am facing a quite strange issue:
* Deploying an image of win 10 15063 created in one Ryzen PC to another Ryzen PC
will not activate.
* Both computers have
valid digital licenses. In fact, deployment of an image of the previous windows version (anniversary update, win 10 14393) would pick the activation on the target PC almost immediately. Only the creator's update is the one giving trouble, and only if deploying an image to another Ryzen PC.
* If doing an in-place upgrade of a windows 10 install 14393 to 15063 in a system that already had a digital license, it will activate fine.
* If doing a clean install of win 10 15063 in a system that already had a digital license, it will activate fine.
* However, if deploying from a win 10 15063 image to another Ryzen system that already had a digital license, it will
NOT activate.
* Base windows 10 15063 install created and tweaked in a system that already had a digital license where it activated fine. Image is created from this install.
No sysprep. Hardware is identical on the target PC. Then, deploying said image to a different system that already had a digital license,
it will not activate in the new system
* When trying to run the activation troubleshooter in the new PC, I get the message "A digital license for windows 10 home has been found for this system running windows 10 home. Install windows 10 home to activate"
* No sysprep applied to the windows install before creating the image, and the image is being created using Norton Ghost 11.5.
I have done it this way a lot of times in previous win10 builds (1511 and 1607) and it worked fine.
At most, it took 1-2 reboots after the image was deployed on the new system to pick the activation
Images are being deployed to PCs that ALREADY have a valid Win 10 digital license.
The issue is exclusive to a Ryzen target PC. Deploying the win 10 15063 image to an AM3+ system that also had a valid digital license will pick up the activation fine.
There is something with the promontory chipsets.
I really DO NOT want to apply sysprep as the settings have been tweaked and don't want to redo them for every PC.
Maybe this post should be in the operating systems section, but I was wondering if someone with more than one Ryzen PC had trying imaging win 10 15063 to the other one.
Ryzen has been reported to perform really well in win 10 1703 b15063 creators update so I decided to jump the gun.
