Anyone hit 4000 yet? At sub 1.5v and soc max 1.2...

The sad thing is our bad and slow hynix 2x8 ram will all ran 3200 so the incentives for the ultra high freq is less.

They therefore need to add deviders up to 4400 now. We want more

I will soon buy Ryzen 1600. I have a question, which budget (cheap) Mobo is optimal for frequent bios updates, stability (problems with ram compatibility), o/c and accessories? I have like ~$107 (not more) for it (had to convert my currency that's why price is stupid^^ ). Someone recommended me Asrock AB350M Pro4.

Been running BOINC on my R5 1600 using the stock cooler for almost a day now. AMD nailed it with the stock cooler for stock usage. It never breaks 75C under 100% 12-thread load and stays very quiet.

Its a great stock cooler for overclocks up to 3.6-3.7ghz.

What do you mean by accessories?

Well, lots of people getting 3600MHz+ with Samsung B-die with the new beta BIOS. I don't blame people for being excited! Seems like the May AGESA update is the big leap for memory performance.

Once ASRock releases a stable BIOS with the AGESA 1.0.0.6 updates I will try my DDR4-3600 B-die kit and see if it will load with XMP.

Will be interesting to see whether it will allow me to run my LPX 3600's at the rated speeds. Since I have Asus Peasant X370, I have a feeling it will just result in a boot loop, but we shall see.

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3800 MHz @ 1.35v
HSF: Wraith Spire
MB: Asrock AB350M Pro4 (BIOS 2.50)
PS: EVGA Supernova 750 G3 (upside down for airflow / fan stays off)
RAM: G.Skill Flare X 16GB (2x8) @ 3333MHz / 14/14/14/14/34
Case: Fractal Design Define Mini C (windowless)
The front cover is currently removed for better airflow
Top, bottom, and front unused air vents are all blocked.
Replaced PCI slot covers with Corsair vented covers
SSD: Kingston 240GB
HD: Seagate BaraCuda 1TB 2.5"
GPU: MSI GTX 1050 ti
FANS: 2 Fractal Design 140mm silent fans front intake
1 Fractal Design 120mm fan bottom intake
OS: Linux Mint 18

My primary goal is quiet and cool -- while using the Wraith Spire. I may yet replace it, but I still don't see a good reason. [I'm experimenting with frequencies and voltages atm, and will return to a pstate OC config once the right BIOS update drops]

Current OC status: The CPU runs stable at 3.8GHz at 1.35V. I made a custom CPU fan speed curve that uses lower RPM's at low temps but more rapidly raises RPM as temps rise. In 26C ambient room idle temp is 36C. It hits 65C at full load with the GPU idle. The system sits in a desk cubby -- but with the front door removed.

Edit: updated post to reflect temp settings as of July 8, 2017

It will be interesting which from the two boards - ASUS C6H and ASRock Taichi will ultimately work better with fast memory. Taichi may have better VRM but if ASUS manages to better support faster memory then thats it. It is essential for 2x16GB or 4x8GB (or both) to work at 3200. For those considering Ryzen it may be worth to wait a little bit to see the winner after final BIOSes with AGESA 1.0.0.6

Yeah, I've been getting tired of waiting but looks like the next month or so should finally see which boards are the best.

chew* has gotten both configurations to run at DDR4-3200 on the Taichi I believe, so . . .

I achieved 32GB in a 4x8GB configuration at DDR4-3200 CL14 on the Gigabyte K7 using AGESA 1.0.0.4a. It looks like 1.0.0.6 makes it easier to hit 3000+ in previously difficult to achieve configurations. Not everything is quite plug and play yet, but things appear to be improving.

Given that it's been a little over two months, I'm pretty pleased with the rapid pace of updates. Once there is a UEFI update for the Taichi with 1.0.0.6 I'll give 3600+ a go.

I haven't been able to get my new RAM to run 3200 on my Taichi even with looser timings. It's happy at 2933, but that's it.

I am running that exact RAM (okay, it's in black flavor and is from a quad channel kit, but same specs and tier - CL14 Ripjaws V) in a Taichi with the P2.00 UEFI at 3200 CL14. I don't recall exactly what I did, but I think I might have manually set the voltage. I do have another Samsung B-die kit that only runs 2933 at the moment on my MSI board (which has previously worked at 3200 CL14 with two other kits) so I suspect the 1.0.0.6 update will probably fix that.

As of now, $155 was spent to go from 2667 to 2933, probably not the greatest upgrade ever...

Finally had time to put my new shiny stuff together. I was going to get the 1700 or 1700X, but opted for the 1600X. I paired it with an MSI B350M Gaming Pro, and am wondering about overclocking.
Should I get 3200 memory? Would I notice much of a difference in gaming? What's a safe voltage for this chip? Would I notice a huge difference from stock to 4 GHz? I tried overclocking the CPU to 4 GHz, but I felt like 1.375v was a bit much.

Question - with the 1700X if one goes with the stock 3 Ghz speed and does not overclock, is air cooling sufficient to extract maximum performance?

Stock is not 3 but 3.4 all core or something like that. Air cooling is plenty sufficient. Zen is not thermally limited but is limited by process. Zen is very efficient. If you downclock to 3.0 and run at say 1.0V it uses i would guess in the order of a tdp of 35w for 8 core. I mean run the 1700x at stock and its extremely lean for 99.9% of all loads.

That surprises me. How much vDIMM and SoC voltage are you using?

Depends on the air cooler. The stock cooler for the 1700 is good for up to 3.8 GHz I'd say. Basically whatever you can get with ~1.25v vcore. Of course with the 1700X you don't get a stock cooler, but that should give you some idea of what performance you should look for minimum when selecting an HSF for your 1700X.
