Dude you can stop obsessing over it anytime. I promise I won't stop you if you decide to drop the matter.

Seriously people see the price of $90 for the mobo/CPU combo and still think it's a killer deal. Once they go to buy one and find out it's actually $10 less, would anyone complain?

Damn... This looks like such a good deal. I just can't justify the purchase of a motherboard without PCI Express...

Semprons with an ECS NFORCE4-A754 board have been available from Fry's sporadically in the past few months, so we can cross our fingers that the board will find its way to a combo deal on Outpost. Keep looking and keep your fingers crossed!

I just sold my Sempron combo for $127 on eBay I was going to build a system with it, but now I can afford a nice (but still cheap) dual core system $47 profit for no work whatsoever isn't too shabby.

just bought one yesterday, says backordered... any ideas how long it will take? just bought a 9700pro on ebay ($40) to pop in there too. This is replacing my P4 2.2 dell / gforce4 ti4200. Do you think its worth it?i should mention that my p4 is using 768 of PC133 mem (a bottleneck for sure)... thoughts?

I bought the ECS Sempron 3100 combo.

Was running it 9x2500 on the ECS mobo.

Put it in my EPOX nForce 3 250 and running 9x260.

It is a .90m Palermo, cpuz doesnt show it to be an A64.

I just called outposts toll free #, and asked about the athlon 64 3000 combo (because my sempron/ECS combo is on backorder) and they said that that combo was out of stock too... do either come with heatsink/fans? the 256kb cache and the heatsink arent really worth the $20 difference since im going to get a better fan for overclocking anyway. Anyone else have experice with either combo, which will be the better overclocker ? I will just be happy to get the sempron up to 250mhz FSB with a 1:13 memory divider because i only have ddr333(pc2700) lying around. I believe the 1:13 divider is the slowest one available to the nforce3-a, is that correct? could someone with the board from this combo tell me what their largest memory divider is in their BIOS?

EDIT: by the way, just thought of this: What is the minimum power supply people are successfully running these on? I have a radeon 9700pro in the mail. and i am concerned as to if i need to by a better psu. I think what i will end up maybe doing is possibly using an older AT power supply for my lights, fans and drives and my main one for the board and video card. Is it imperative that the vid card 4 pin floppy connector (for my radeon9700) be on the same PSU as my mobo?

thanks,

Very glad  especially now that it is OOS and there's a $100 deal with an A64.

Ahh well, everyone's happy now.

Can someone help me with this problem?

First, I installed the NForce 5.11 drivers, all except for the IDE drivers. The computer reboots during the installation of the LAN driver. It won't boot up again. I insert the XP CD and install again. This time I just install the the first 2 choices and install the LAN driver manually. It does not detect my onboard LAN. It's set to Auto in the BIOS. The device manager shows an unknown PCI Bridge device in the device manager. Looks like my onboard LAN is DOA.

Maybe I will just return it tomorrow and get the 3000+ combo.

Install the video driver first. Then, use 5.10 drivers for everything. I had the exact same problem. If you install video driver first, and then reboot and then nforce 5.10, I am quite sure that it will work fine. I don't know why it behaves this way, but try it.

Ah shoot, when I checked the website, it says available. I called them and their order site was closed?! Never happened before. I just ordered with my credit card through the site. I hope it is not out of stock. I ordered 2.

A 300W Sparkle (Fortron) works fine with a 9700 Pro. Do not use a cheap power supply, it will kill your hard drive (happened twice to a computer I built).

Thanks freshspace, I will try that when I get home.

You are quite welcome Triggerhappy007. I know that Zap and other guys recommend against ide drivers and so on, but just try my recommendation first - after the video driver, nforce 5.10 for EVERYTHING, including LAN and IDE. I just love this thread.
