First fixes for DX11 now Open GL keep it coming AMD.

Making my decision to hold off on a GPU purchase seem sweeter all the while. AMD used card prices as slipping much much faster than NV while simultaneously AMD is picking up the pace in sorting out long standing problems in their drivers.

Think I may be on the verge of a $300 6700XT in my future here.

That is going to require hardware which we will see in RDNA 3.

- Back in the day AMD countered some NV BS involving overly tessellated surfaces that played to NV's strengths and against AMD's by implementing a driver level "limiter" that capped the level of detail of tessellation to improve performance on AMD cards with virtually 0 hit to image quality.

I wonder if something similar can be done with RT and the number of rays cast/subsequent bounces etc that might result in a minor hit to RT image quality but a huge boost to AMD performance.

Just tested on Freespace 2 Open, the only OpenGL game that i know.

R5 3600 + RX 6600.

The performance improvements are well over 50%, altrought in this case it probably means this new driver is more cpu optimised too, as this game is ST and these scenes are cpu heavy too.

You gotta make those fps numbers bigger and a different colour hard to make out.

Overlays does not work with the new drivers, so i could only use the game own fps indicator.

So i extracted the insider driver and i installed it on Windows 10 with a Vega APU, it also shows some gains in heaven. The Insider version only installs this drivers with a RDNA2 gpu, but it can be manually installed on RDNA1, vega and polaris.
