you get on the mailing list from going to previous events. but for new people, just sign up for the event when more info is posted through a link (yet to be announced since the current email doesnt have anymore info)

anyways i went to the last two events and good food and so so information, since most can be found or read online already.

This is why I boycott AMD tech tours as a hardware ditributor.

All you damn end users - it's supposed to be for resellers only, but AMD is simply a whore.

Last one I went to only had about 25% resellers, the rest were greedy little bastards like you folks.

At least Intel screens the applicants..

So who do you work for? I'll be happy to boycott it.

...bundle...
they can't be selling AM2 bundle(May, at least June for CPUs), unless they do a pre-order. (even they have, not sure if many interested in it with lass than 5% increase in performance. Let along new memory, new socket/cooler, and less IDE channel(many AM2 mobo shows 1 IDE slot. means SATA dvd drives and etc))... on a 2nd thought, its good for resell... because you need to buy new stuff.
939 is EOL this year (754 will be next year) so they *can't* be selling a 939 bundle right?

there is no Vista to bundle and x64-pro is like a dead end (last time a8n-e with x64-pro gives many problem: missing audio, missing ethernet, and I yet to use the x64-pro...)

They already did the opteron and not sure what to push out...

Hahaha!!!!

Mark,

Thank you for your feedback. AMD has noticed the same thing and will be requiring a Tax ID number in order to purchase the bundles at future Tech Tours.

Yes I do.

The conferences are not for end users, they are for RESELLERS.

And for the record, I had nothing to do with AMD's decision to require a tax cert.

And if someone really wanted one, all they have to do is get a tax cert for a nominal fee from their local.state tax department.

And it is up to you to make that decision? Oooh, you are the man.

I don't care because they are not near me, but I am sure others will.

Huh? My decision? No - The Intel Channel Conference and AMD Tech tours are for reseller education, not so a bunch of cheap, pimply-faced geeks can get parts well below cost.

Looks to me like AMD made the decision to weed out end users... BECAUSE THE SHOWS ARE FOR RESELLERS.

So, now you are not a geek? That is the funniest thing I have read all day. Hmm, been here since 1999, crying because someone may get a deal (On computer equipment) you may not get. Arguing about it over the internet. Yup, you are not a geek

You're missing the point.

This is a hot deal.... for resellers. The Tech Tour was never meant for end users.

But over the years, people would make up company names or just go on behalf of Bill's Ice Cream-a-rama and the Tech Tours became more and more crowded and less and less resellers showed up.

They needed to put a handle on it. I'm glad they did.

Do you remeber the last time they did a bundle during a Tech Tour? They ran out of bundles before the tour was half way over. I talked to a guy at AMD about that and he said that all of the end users showing up really screwed it up for the resellers and that they wouldn't let that happen again.

Cool. But you know it will still happen. All I have to do is make up a company name and have a website with an email addy and I am set. Like I said they never come close to me any way. So I am just arguing to be devil's advocate.

Thanks for being an ass, I enjoyed going to the tech tours not for the free stuff or the cheap bundles, but to get a nice presentation on where things were headed with AMD. I never even bought a bundle.

Put down the pipe - and read the thread idiot.

Did you read what AMD emailed me? I don't think you did (I have to assume you *CAN* read), let me requote it again for you. Would you like me to increase the font size so you can read it?

Note it does NOT say you can't ATTEND if you are an end-user - it says you can't BUY THE BUNDLE.

So, according to your witty post, the restriction doesn't apply to you.

Run along now..

Actually, genius, when most of us, myself included, signed up with AMD's site, this program was for people inlcuding just enthusiasts. For some reason, AMD saw fit to port us over to this program which seems intended mostly for resellers, but, hell, THEY'RE emailing ME...they've chosen to solicit my attention as long as they do, when I signed up under perfectly legit pretenses, I'll feel obliged to respond if I want to.

So it's not so much that people don't like a rat as they don't like unknowledgeable idiots with ePeen envy.

how do we sign up.

AMD retail/sales channel is a joke.

AMD just can't compete.

I would sell more AMD PC if they had a marketing program like intel's retail edge.
