Oh that could be maybe i just got the number of the cards confused.. Anyways that is still to much to be asking for a graphics card to play games with or watch movies with ect..

Early adopters always pay more. Buy something affordable and wait.

As I mentioned in another thread, according to one of the front page articles here, 7nm Vega should be coming this year. May want to wait for that. https://www.anandtech.com/show/13279/amd-to-fab-7nm-cpus-gpus-at-tsmc

Too late! I bought the sapphire Nitro 64 for $500 the other day after that dood made an account and posted itt. ...would have updated, but it seems that I banned myself these last couple of days.

Anyway, still haven't seen anything about consumer vega or consumer anything AMD this year, so I'm not too bummed about that. ...I'm only bummed that I bought this mini ATX case more than a year ago with never any intention of installing a massive card in it. ...so uh, yeah. I got a G+ EVGA 750 gold plus from Newegg the other day for $60 (after $20 rebate)....which means that both of these things will not fit in this case. The available SFX power supplies are more expensive/too low wattage (honestly, I'd be fine with 650) or "not what I want"...so I think the wise decision at this point is to just go back to mid tower size. sigh...(my mini ATX case will actually fit long cards; it's just the height of the power supply causing issues--I don't think this card would fit, being about 3 slots, and if it did, it would still block 1.5 of the 3 fans.)

GOnna pick up another fractal design case I think, midtower...which means now my Mobo is going from the ASRock fatality 470 ITX to the intro Taichi...I think. we shall see.

Hey, good news is that my planned 2600X was upgraded today to a 2700X because Mocrocenter was selling the 2700x for $270 in-store this week.

Let us know how it goes and also how hot temps are on that card please??

Good move on the 2700X. You're going to love that Ryzen chip.

OMG the Powercolor Vega 64 is on sale right now for $499, plus you get a free $150 gift from AMD which I am guessing is a gaming bundle set.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...14131734&cm_re=vega_64-_-14-131-734-_-Product
Do you guys think these cards will drop any lower any time soon? Or is this an awesome price that shouldn't be passed up? Errr I wish we knew for certain when 7nm Vega AIB were going to hit, Cause i really really want this card!!

Looks like Newegg, at least, is clearing stock of Vega 64 cards. Must be a reason.

This looks like the one to get if you want a Vega 64, though, and if your case can handle it (officially 1mm too long for my case! ). I agree with the others saying that Vega likely won't be seeing prices much lower than this, because they are just too damn expensive for AMD to make. Good or bad for current generation, the refresh could be coming out in the next several months and maybe cheaper MSRP than the first gen Vega. Still, I don't recall any mention of consumer GPUs being released this year...unless they are planning to unload something else like a prosumer frontier edition.

This could also be Newegg (and others?) clearing warehouse space for upcoming 20xx cards? I have no idea if it works that way, lol; but Nvidia has supposedly been strong-arming the retailers into buying up the glut of over-manufactured 10xx cards in order to gain access to the gigaray stuff, so maybe they really do need to space to buy up all of the 1st gen Pascal stuff that they probably don't expect to sell.

The sapphire Nitro that I bought late last week will arrive sometime this week, but I probably won't be able to do much with it until next weekend or later, after the new MoBo and case and all that arrive.

Le sigh: yes, I had to buy another case because this unplanned Vega 64 is larger than the case I wanted to use.
Related: anyone interested in purchasing a completely un-touched FD Define Nano S? 1.5 years old; but only briefly removed to inspect contents and returned to box, wrapped.

$500 for Vega is a clearance price, eh? Damn. Go mine that XMR people, get your money back. I guess.

Glad to see people still want these cards. Personally I would be really surprised to see AMD anything come out until Q2 2019. Maybe I'm just being a pessimist.

I realize that this is "not the forum for that" but ugh. Hope you are not right.

I would only be interested in the Assassin's Creed game in that bundle to be honest.Dont care for the other two really. But yes I am thinking this is an awesome deal...
I finally have enough to get this card and it goes on sale, but something is just holding me back right now.
$500 is a pretty big chunk of cash for me. I guess I am just afraid that if I get this card the 7nm refresh will release right after I dont want to be in the position where I would want to kick my self in the rear due to not waiting.
The refresh could be like 25% better or more with much lower TDP.
What would you guys do?? Should I just go ahead and grab it or wait till the 7nm refresh??

I would wait until April 2019 and then look at your options. If you are still running that 1060, you will be fine for awhile yet. Not that I necessarily have anything against current-gen Vega, but we're less than a year away from Q2 2019 when Matisse and Vega Refresh will probably hit the consumer market at the same time (I expect any 2018 launch of Vega Refresh to be for non-consumer applications). That is going to be a big time for AMD.

I am actually the high bidder on the same card, I figure I would try it out.

Enterprise for sure by the end of this year, but IIRC, AMD still hasn't set an official release plan for consumer Vega @ 7nm. I think it is entirely possible still that there won't be a consumer version for 7nm (Vega 20 is not meant for consumers, right?), and that they focus on Navi for 7nm.

If AMD skips Vega Refresh for consumer desktop and goes straight to Navi, that will be horrible.

Ah right. I guess it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see it released on the consumer side too, but I wouldnt be surprised either if it's never brought over.

Did you forget the /s?

Vega is not fully functional. Screwup by Koduri and his team?
Navi will have NGG functional and almost certainly more features, etc. Better than Vega?
7nm still very early for desktop CPUs and gamer GPUs. Better to have Vega 7nm refresh than Navi assuming Navi is ready?

It wasn't sarcasm. The "broken" parts of Vega (like NGG) are allegedly going to be functional by the time the Vega refresh rolls out. It remains to be seen whether consumers will get their hands on those cards.

Regardless, AMD needs something in the mid-to-high range to replace RX Vega. I see Navi as more a replacement for Polaris. If Navi can somehow outperform RX Vega while sitting at Polaris' price point and power usage, then great. But don't hold your breath waiting for it.

Plus Navi has been pushed wayyyyyyyyyy out. No consumer Vega Refresh means nothing new from AMD until late 2019. Very bad.

Screwed up or not my RX 56 OCd is as fast as a stock 1080 and is perfectly fine at 1440P for any game on the market. So I don’t feel like I’m suffering here.

These are news to me. Can you be more specific as to info.

Vega refresh, which I assume is 7nm Vega 20 was seen by nearly all to be purely for professional markets, and where did you see/hear Navi was late 2019?

Screwed up meaning that performance was below planned levels due to (improper ?) implementation. Not that the cards are terrible.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/06/29/amd-navi-gpu-release-date-specs-price-rumours/

That's not the only place, but that's the first thing I could turn up on a moment's notice. Navi10 is H2 2019 at the earliest, with the possibility for bleeding into 2020. Bear in mind that was before GF called it quits on 7nm. If Navi was supposed to be handled by GF, then expect more delays rather than fewer.

There are other rumour mills claiming "680" parts based off Navi10 will show up in early 2019. I'll believe that when I see it.

Yea I don't see Navi being on store shelves until mid 2020 with the move from GF... if that's even the direction AMD is planning to go. Hopefully by then the 2nd generation of Zen 2 chips will be released anyway, so there's no rush for me to do away with Vega for a bit.

Just an update here with the new card. So far it plays all games nicely at 1440p, and I am just now experimenting with HBM oc, which apparently makes a pretty big difference. Also undervolting a bit. Mining ETH atm, will test games later with the tweaked settings.

Update here, 1100 MHz HBM is not quite stable in games. Now at 1075, which plays fine in WoT and BFV beta.
