Can you guys/gals who took the cooler off confirm whether the GPU/HBM package on your card used the epoxy molding or didn't? Please post brand and model as well.
Would you care to share where a Vega 56 can be had at the MSRP? I'm ready to jump on the hype train, even if it is a handcar now.MSI custom Vega pictured
Spoiler: It's a marginally improved reference cooler and apparently that's all we can expect from MSI.
Spotted a few 56 available at MSRP, seriously thinking about getting one since I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2018 before the custom cards are properly available. The undervolting results I've seen make me think the reference cooler might be bearable after all.
In other Vega news, the hype train has been spotted after a long period of absence.

Thanks for the info. On a reddit thread someone with a XFX 64 reported unmolded die, while someone with a XFX 56 reported a molded die, so not sure if there is any pattern either by manufacturer or by 56/64.Sapphire Vega 56 using molded die, not sure shows up as samsung in gpuz.
Nope, my Gigabyte says made in Taiwan (GPUz says Samsung HBM) but no molding.I think cards from Taiwan have the molded dies with Samsung HBM2.
I tried the latest beta version of Afterburner (4.4.0 beta 20 I think it was) last night and it kept crashing my Prey
Will have to roll back to the earlier beta version I was using I guess...

Is it a modded BIOS?Nope, my Gigabyte says made in Taiwan (GPUz says Samsung HBM) but no molding.
you got a link to the newest beta? i'm on my third playthrough so I can do some of my own testing.
Modded?Is it a modded BIOS?
OK. Just asking because the BIOS tells GPU-Z whether it is Samsung or Hynix irrespective of what the actual physical memory is. Users flashing a 56 with Hynix memory who flash with 64 BIOS then have it reported as Samsung. Of course manufacturers of the cards may not even put the "right" BIOS on in the first place to match the actual memory. And no, I did not flash any different BIOS.
Interesting. I use the same and have hotspot 32c above gpu temp.I used Noctua NT-H1.
Gaming. The computer is in a closet so difficult to get good airflow.^Are those temps with mining or gaming?
