Can you guys/gals who took the cooler off confirm whether the GPU/HBM package on your card used the epoxy molding or didn't? Please post brand and model as well.

Look at pics in op. Pretty sure mine is molded right. One thing is the same heigh another is the added protection. I wouldnt do this without.

MSI custom Vega pictured

Spoiler: It's a marginally improved reference cooler and apparently that's all we can expect from MSI.

Spotted a few 56 available at MSRP, seriously thinking about getting one since I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2018 before the custom cards are properly available. The undervolting results I've seen make me think the reference cooler might be bearable after all.

In other Vega news, the hype train has been spotted after a long period of absence.
Would you care to share where a Vega 56 can be had at the MSRP? I'm ready to jump on the hype train, even if it is a handcar now.

anyone else run last year's Doom w Vulcan on their RX Vega yet? those reflections... so much yes.

Project CARS 2 also runs very well and that game has rather steep recommended settings. Haven't tried the new beta drivers but I think they just added mGPU/crossfire profiles w Vega?

Thanks for the info. On a reddit thread someone with a XFX 64 reported unmolded die, while someone with a XFX 56 reported a molded die, so not sure if there is any pattern either by manufacturer or by 56/64.

I tried the latest beta version of Afterburner (4.4.0 beta 20 I think it was) last night and it kept crashing my Prey

Will have to roll back to the earlier beta version I was using I guess...

I'm still on the lookout for a Vega 56 anywhere near the MSRP. I see a Powercolor for $479. It's hard for me to want to pay that much for a blower card.

I would just get the $499 Newegg bundle and sell the games. It takes a bit of work, but I believe you will be able to net more than $50-$75 for both games.

I found a buyer for Prey but not Wolfenstein. I'm a little wary of trying to sell stuff like that unless it's someone I know. It's probably okay, but I don't have any experience selling game vouchers.

you got a link to the newest beta? i'm on my third playthrough so I can do some of my own testing.

Nope, my Gigabyte says made in Taiwan (GPUz says Samsung HBM) but no molding.

It was linked on a Reddit post to a forum somewhere either at Overclock.net or MSI somewhere... can't seem to find the link by searching, I'll check again when I'm home.

And no, I did not flash any different BIOS.
OK. Just asking because the BIOS tells GPU-Z whether it is Samsung or Hynix irrespective of what the actual physical memory is. Users flashing a 56 with Hynix memory who flash with 64 BIOS then have it reported as Samsung. Of course manufacturers of the cards may not even put the "right" BIOS on in the first place to match the actual memory.

My Vega 56:
Watercooled using EK VGA-Supremacy and a custom bracket I made out of plate steel and spraypainted. I left the original VRM heatsink + fan on there and made a shroud out of cardboard with cutouts for the tubing. Yes, it's ghetto but I've done it before and it worked lol. I also have a 290 in the loop so that is adding heat as well.

Card is at 45C core and 63C HBM, 50C hotspot while mining at 900/950mhz, 0.95/1.25v core/mem.

Anyone know how to reduce the core voltage? It seems to be stuck at 1.25v no matter what I do.

EDIT: NM, it seems it's the mem voltage that's stuck at 1.25v. Anyone know how to reduce HBM voltage?

I used Noctua NT-H1.
Interesting. I use the same and have hotspot 32c above gpu temp.

Now i run max 75c target 65c and have 100% stability yet hotspot get to 92c.

Reapplying paste several times same result. Different pressure on die. Perhaps some less viscous next time ? What do you recommend?
